Official "What Ohio State fans are saying about the matchup" thread

Ohio State stands no chance in this game. Saban will have close to a month to prepare for a 3rd string QB. Ohio State will be lucky to score on us if we bring the A-Game.

I love the enthusiasm. Cardale Jones looked good last night, better than I think most everyone expected for his 3rd-string status. And he can throw deep pretty well. I like the matchup for Bama, but Ohio State certainly does stand a chance.

How can AU fans talk like that and they're from the State of Alabama?
They're so blinded by their all consuming hatred of Bama that they fail to see the irony in their words. I expect Auburn fans to go to the forums of Bama's next opponent and show their ignorance, it's what they do. I just wish Bama fans would not do the same - some of them seem to quantify the aubies' insults.

To the OSU fans who spew the inbred, trailer park, and such comments - I've been in Ohio. They're living in a glass house. Ohio is, after all, next door to West Virginia.

The last thread, why do Bama fans go to other sites, start threads that make comparisons favorable to Alabama ? I don't get that. That isn't football talk. I am really ready to jettison a sizable portion of our fanbase. Seriously. That isn't the way coach Bryant would do it. Or would want it done.

Secondly, why is it that the first response from an opposing team fanbase usually has something to do with teeth, trailer parks, farm animals or incest. Can't people think of something witty or intelligent?

I have really lost faith in my fellow man. I weep for future generations in football and life.

Amen to that. Eastern Ohio isn't much different from western West Virginia. On the lake, you have Cleveland and Akron. Rural Ohio is no different from rural anywhere.

I'm reminded of the Notre Dame fans who did the same thing -- selling Catholics vs. Cousins t-shirts, among other things. At halftime in the Miami BCSNCG, they really wished they hadn't been wearing them.

And it always seems to come from Yankee states. Do they not know that all that stuff happens in every state?

I don't know what to expect, but here is what we know going in. Alabama has faced much better defenses, while averaging 37 ppg on offense. Alabama scored, on average, 13 ppg more than your opposing defenses allowed. That means that the average defense faced by Alabama allowed 24 ppg.

OSU has faced only a handful of good defenses, averaging 45 ppg on the season. That is 19 ppg better than those teams typically allowed, which means that the average defense faced by OSU allowed 26 ppg.

The difference is only 2 ppg on average, but most of the 19 ppg came from the games in which we really destroyed weaker defenses. Meyer pours it on and doesn't take his foot off of the gas, unlike Saban.

So, I consider the offenses to be a push. We both have very good offensive units with play makers at every position. Sims has more experience, so if there is an edge, it goes to Alabama.

On defense Alabama allows 16 ppg, and held your opponents to 13 ppg less than they averaged. OSU allows 21 ppg, and has held its opponents to 7 ppg fewer than they have averaged. Both teams played comparible offensive units, so Alabama clearly has an edge here.

I will be doing a lot more analysis over the next few weeks, but based on this, Alabama should win - but in a close game.
