Yes. The affair of Clinton was impeachable.
I would need a lawyer's view on it (maybe a few), but from what I remember it was that he lied under oath that got the ball rolling. Personally I really don't care what a man does in his bed chambers unless it is abuse. On the otherhand having an affair is a punitive article in the UCMJ so it does look bad for the man leading the military to do it while leading the military.

Chicago should be the spot that tells us how good of a job whatever politician has done. Then again, if we use that example hardly any democrats would be elected.
I think the problem is that Democrats (most of them) preach about gun control, but always a hard liner from the opposite side points to the gun crisis in a very strict gun control area in an attempt to devolve any attempt for a compromise on a very real crisis in America. The problem with Chicago is that it is a very complex situation that extreme gun right folks don't and wont try to understand.

One of the persistent lines is that Clinton's impeachment was about sex.
Article I charged that Clinton lied to the grand jury concerning:
the nature and details of his relationship with Lewinsky
prior false statements he made in the Jones deposition
prior false statements he allowed his lawyer to make characterizing Lewinsky's affidavit
his attempts to tamper with witnesses.
Article III charged Clinton with attempting to obstruct justice in the Jones case by:
encouraging Lewinsky to file a false affidavit
encouraging Lewinsky to give false testimony if and when she was called to testify
concealing gifts he had given to Lewinsky that had been subpoenaed
attempting to secure a job for Lewinsky to influence her testimony
permitting his lawyer to make false statements characterizing Lewinsky's affidavit
attempting to tamper with the possible testimony of his secretary Betty Curie
making false and misleading statements to potential grand jury witnesses.

I still believe that if he had said, "It's none of your business, but yeah, I did it. In fact, i'ma go to the office and do it again," my father-in-law (lifelong Democrat) would have said, "Yeah. Old guy, gettin' some on the side with a young woman! That's why I like that guy."

Very good points. I wish I could go into a deeper conversation with that, but I changed a starter today and it was a beast. Still, I think you are right. No side is willing to give in so the status quo will remain until the right people are killed.

‘Hitler Was Right’ Republican Wins Missouri Primary

A Missouri Republican who has made anti-Semitic and other bigoted statements handily won a primary for the state’s House of Representatives.

Steve West, who promotes anti-Semitic conspiracy theories on a radio show he hosts, defeated three other candidates Tuesday in the bid for a seat representing Clay County. He won with 49.5 percent of the vote.

“Looking back in history, unfortunately, Hitler was right about what was taking place in Germany. And who was behind it,” West said on KCXL radio in January 2017, The Kansas City Star reported Thursday.

You libtards keep saying it the Republicans are racist. He didn't even get over 50%. How can you possibly say that most Republicans are racist when he clearly needed at least a half a percent more?
Republicans: I mean, what's a little Nazism between friends when compared to tax policy and SCOTUS?

But I'll point out that this dude was running against two other candidates. Meaning half of Republicans in this sample chose the Hitler apologist over other GOP options. The Trump/Fox brainwashing is working.

i get the feeling that they didn't have to try too hard. there seems to be a rather large and willing audience for this type of stuff.

Nazis were pretty known for their safety and security though so it's understandable.

You comment on Fox led me to this thought that the social experiment that has been undertaken by the Kochs, Murdoch, Mercers, Et al will almost certainly have unintended and completely unforeseen outcomes.

Our right leaning brethren here may well find in the end that re engineering our Constitution and practically every other aspect of government could well lead to results that are at least detrimental to their children's future.

In my adult life I become increasingly perplexed at the fact that the wealthy few, many of who inherited hundreds of $ millions, are able to leverage societal fears to induce such a large spectrum of the population to support their cause without fully understanding their ultimate aims.

Case in point being avidly supporting a supreme court nominee openly in favor of creating a POTUS who is above the law vs one supporting the rule of law. The glaring inconsistency of the right of advocating on one hand for small and limited government while on the other hand supporting the unfettered exercise of executive power is perplexing to me to say the least.

I do believe that those in the media and otherwise who say, our Democracy is strong and we will survive this, are guilty of engaging in wishful thinking at a minimum.

It would seem that there is a fairly linear progression from separating children from parents, branding news as fake, to clubbing counter protesters to what comes next! A few years ago we could have not thought that Nazi comparisons could have come so easily!

I agree that there seems to be too large of an audience, but I think it is only because they’ve been convinced over time that it is in their self-interest to believe those things, or at least not reject them because they don’t see them as a threat. That requires the brainwashing.

Vox lays out the plan to use fear to try to stop the wave and again points out what I have been saying for years. We are living in the safest time in history

Wake up Righty morons you are getting played
I understand your reasoning in posting the data on violent crime in terms of how it is being used as a scare tactic.

I must say however, that when one becomes a victim of violent crime we begin to view the deterioration of our society in much different terms. Once that happens and one is confronted with our system of injustice statistics become meaningless to victims.

It is a complex multi-faceted topic that is dependent on an individuals perspective. There is a great deal of difference between crime statistics in gated communities with ubiquitous security systems to that which exist out in the real world and inner cities. I would advise not attempting explain to the Black family whose husband and father was just gunned down in Florida about improving statistics on violent crime.

To your point the crime I am most concerned with comes from that certain thirty something percent!

good opinion piece from the Daily Beast on this topic

https://www.thedailybeast.com/did-i...urally-attracts-extremists-and-kooks?ref=home

I miss the good old days when the best weirdos were on the other side of the aisle. Back in the 1990s, when I was a devoted fan of The Rush Limbaugh Show, El Rushbo had a line that resonated with me in its simplicity. Speaking of unusually large number of close friends and associates of Bill Clinton who either died mysteriously or were indicted, Rush would rhetorically ask his Ditto Heads something like, “How many of your close friends are in jail?”

Today, the roles are reversed. Normal Americans find ourselves asking a similar question—this time about a Republican administration: How many people do you know who have (allegedly) beaten the hell out of two ex-wives? How many people do you know who worked for Russian oligarchs? How many people do you know who have been indicted? Any members of your family own a python jacket?

Now, I’m not going to pretend that there aren’t weird people on the left; there are (see Anthony Weiner). And I’m not going to say they don’t have some horrifically stupid ideas (a new survey shows Dems prefer socialism to capitalism) I’m just saying that, in recent years, the balance has gotten out of whack.
