Last night, a doe wandered by, not showing much interest in the blueberries. She looked up when the camera light came on. Then, a couple of seconds later, she triggered the sprinkler and took off... :)

I assume you're using a trail camera, Earle. Would you mind sharing which brand and model?

I have three of them myself and love capturing wildlife at night......

Bazz, these are Arlo brand security cameras. I have a mix of them but the one taking the squirrel pix is their "Ultra" model, which is 4K. It has a built-in light for night pix. Five of them (max) link up to a base unit, which, unfortunately, must be hardwired (CAT V) to your household router. When you buy their system, you get one year of cloud storage, 30 days at a time, unless you download it, as I have the squirrel pix. After that, it's about $100 per year. They were developed by Netgear and, after they took off, Netgear spun the brand off into a separate company. They're on Amazon and on Arlo.com. The best buy is the Pro 3, which gives 2K. They can be hardwired or just run off the battery, which can be pulled out and charged. They have a really good long life, which depends, of course, on usage...

Thanks for all the info, Earle. Much appreciated.

I was thinking the quality of your video was better than what we typically see from trail cameras.

I'm actually researching security cameras right now for my place, so your post and info is very timely for me.

Right now the decision "struggle" is wireless vs. wired. I have some trees I'd like to mount some on and also be able to move them around if desired. Tough to do with the wired products.

I will keep the forum posted on where I end up. Thanks again....

These are wired/wireless. The signal is wireless, but the wiring is for charging only. It uses a induction method attached to the camera magnetically, so sealed from the weather. I just brought in the door camera for recharging It gets a lot of use. I recharge it every month or so...

Oh OK - sorry I misread your post..

The base is wired and cameras are not. Got it.

Looks like they have a solar powered charger available also, which is interesting. I'd think it would make the camera more conspicuous though.

Here is a recent (March 2020) review of the Arlo Pro 3 system. At this point I'm all in. Just trying to decide how many cameras I want to have. Three would probably do it.

A base unit will handle five. Actually, it'll handle more but it can only upload five to the cloud...

I've noticed that Arlo's customer service seems to be slowing down. I have one Pro 3 which is too sensitive. They've promised a new one but said that they don't have any in stock to send, which I don't believe...

Arlo is having a sale of some sort right now...
I just looked and their "Memorial Day" sale price for the Pro 3 is still higher than what Amazon is selling the same thing for:

Arlo: $579.99 vs. Amazon: $549.99

There is a 10% discount for first time purchaser but that only saves less than $30. I'm still giving this some thought so will wait a little bit longer before purchasing.

Thanks for the head's up @Padreruf !

I had to pay to have them trapped after they bore into my attic. It was a lot more expensive than the nice pellet rifle my wife bought me for the next Christmas.

I hate those stupid rats.
I gave up with the pellet gun, after killing 50 in a row. I found out a retired dentist, living on the south end of the mountain, client of mine, was trapping them and bringing them up two miles north to the park and releasing them...
