A embarrassing loss. Long way to go. I watched this game on National TV. We can't hit and we can't pitch. This team will not win 10 conference games. It's like watching the Bad News Bears. Sick of under achieving.

We did everything we could to give this game away but Tennessee keep trying to give it back. Finally, our generosity was too much for them to turn down. 12 walks by Bama pitching mostly out of the bullpen. McNairy was good for 2 innings but lost control in the 7th and Guffey was no help. Tennessee got 4 in the 7th. Bama battled back with 1 in the 7th and 2 in the 8th to tie. Freeman got into a mess but go out of it in the 8th and then Lee kept us in it in the 9th and 10th. When Bama was unable to walk it off in either of those innings, you just knew that the bullpen we had left wouldn't be able to get it done. And they didn't. Grayson Hitt continued the walk-a-thon and Tennessee got 4 more in the top of the 11th.

9 of our 12 walks came from the 7th inning on. I would have tried to get at least one more innings out of Dylan Smith, but they pulled him after 4. He worked out of bases-loaded jams in the 3rd and 4th.
Tennessee left 14 on base, so they could have won that game without the extras had they taken advantage of all the baserunners.

We are just not good enough to compete in the sec. Come regionals we will be sitting at home saying what woulda,coulda,shoulda, but whats new. I just can't understand how we can't field ar least a a competitive team..
IDK. We might beat Kentucky and Missouri, and maybe inch out a win over LSU and Auburn. But the problem is that we are in a sea of monsters. Personally my expectations for this year is to get to Hoover, and anything past that is icing on the cake.
I had expectations to get to Hoover as well. At this rate it's not happening. Sick of below average. I wonder how many of our starters would actually see the field is they played for Vandy or Arkansas or Florida etc. Not many if any.
We are doing about as good as we can realistically expect.
Both Mississippis, Arkansas, Vandy, and Florida are programs that are like what we are in football in baseball. LSU and aTm are very good programs that can compete nationally. So even before the season started we are automatically behind 7 teams. I think if we are being realistic with the schedule we have making it to day 3 in Hoover is a massive improvement and probably the ceiling. We have been battered by bad coaching staffs, and recruiting disadvantages. More or less its going to take time. Maybe longer than what many are comfortable with. But you are talking about a team that hasnt made it to Hoover in the last 2 full seasons so just making it there should be the goal for this season. So we are going to have to just live with the grind for a while longer. I think Bohannan is a hell of coach, but he needs time to build.
But then again you are talking about monsters who can basically pick who they want vs a team that has to pick from scraps. Pretty much everyone of them would own every P5 conference if they all werent in the same conference.
What Gaspard and Goff did to this program has put us further out of contention. Its going to be a long process. But it will probably be worth it if we let it play out.

Me too, but really whats the solution? I know many say that there is no evidence of lottery/gambling states having an advantage, but its always funny that when a state gets one they suddenly have competitive baseball again.
Here in Georgia, they've had the lottery since early 90s but I haven't seen that much of a difference. Since that time, Alabama has probably handled them most years. They did have one Omaha trip and played for the CWS title in the mid-to-late 2000s. But that program is a bit underwhelming. They have some high points but mostly mediocre to not-so-mediocre.

Well now we currently sit at 7 conference wins. We have @UK, vs MO, @ Vandy, vs LSU, and @MSU. We probably get swept by Miss St and Vandy, we probably win the series vs UK and MO, and we probably go to game 3 vs LSU. I think we will have at least 12 conference wins when this is done.
I think the SEC is loaded with talent and we are fighting closer to the middle of the pack.
Coach Bo is bringing in better players. I don't think that's debatable. I know the finishing schedule is brutal, just like the beginning schedule was (in the league), but if we can win the UK and Mizzou series and scratch out a win in each of those final three the odds are really good we make a regional, and for this downtrodden program that's one hell of a thing to celebrate.
If we are going to get up to 10 wins it better be next weekend against Mizzou. They about to drop the UK series. They may take one game at LSU other then that I don't see a win.
