Do you mean to tell me there are teachers who are given a curriculum, are entrusted to teach it a certain way for specific purposes but begin to go off the rails and allow their personal biases and agendas to hijack the original intent of the curriculum? California has essentially the same law and it hasn't helped much. It would need to be a federal felony. Only then would it start to make a dent. But why ten? Why not five? You certainly don't need ten for hunting, not that AR-15s are routinely used by serious hunters anyway, except for varmints. Of course, detachable mags can be changed rapidly, but if the shooter has to stop and change after five shots, then you're certainly going to slow him down some. Of course, as I've written, I'd like to see semi-autos limited to internal mags. Now that would make a difference...

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Police had enough officers on the scene of the Uvalde school massacre to have stopped the gunman three minutes after he entered the building, and they never checked a classroom door to see if it was locked, the Texas public safety chief testified Tuesday, pronouncing the law enforcement response an “abject failure.”

Police officers with rifles instead stood and waited in a hallway for over an hour before they finally stormed the classroom and killed the gunman, putting an end to the May 24 attack that left 19 children and two teachers dead.

The classroom door, it turned out, could not be locked from the inside, yet there is no indication officers tried to open it while the gunman was holed up, Col. Steve McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, said in blistering testimony at a state Senate hearing. Instead, he said, police waited around for a key.
