So essentially do what the Patriots are doing this year to MJ?

I had a lightning bolt thought just now.

Retain both BoB and Gol*ing. No... hear me out. Seriously don't slam the door in my face; just listen.

Swap them. Yes, let BoB coach the defense and Gol*ing coach the offense. Think about it... BoB is actually great at stopping offenses from scoring, while Gol*ing is excellent at befuddling defenses.

This way we save money, keep continuity on the staff, and recruiting continues on as is.

Saban's statements tell CPG will be retained. Who knows if it will be as DC, but he is a key recruiter. As matter of fact, Golding, Roach, Wiggins bring in the lion's share of recruits for Bama this won't be touched by Saban.

If I am guessing, BOB is certainly gone and Charles Kelly is not retained and possibly not CTR either with shakeup also coming the SC area. We should also double down on self scouting our tendencies and take a look at how well are coaching our scout teams.

Well at the point coach Saban does retain Golding, we need to move on and fully support him and the team. Which of us know more than Nick Saban about defense, or football for that matter. I may not like it but I’m just a twig on the tree. He is the trunk. That is just my two cents on the matter. I tell my grandson everyday, complaining only makes the task that much more un-enjoyable. I watch Alabama for the joy of it.

BOB will be gone and this will be a big help for our running game which
will help keep our defense off the field. We need to get back to north south
running and play action. Our receivers don't get open deep because we have
no play action. Two years of BOB and never a Jet Sweep, reverse or a trick
play.
BOB is saving those plays for just the right time, the evil genius that he happens to be. You know, for the SECCG or the CFB playoffs…

Oh wait……never mind….

There was an On3 report about him going back to the Patriots.

Nick Saban on Former Players' Criticisms: "That really breaks my heart" - Sports Illustrated Alabama Crimson Tide News, Analysis and More

Did anyone see this article today? Good for Bo Scarborough for having the tough conversation with Coach Saban. This gives me some hope that maybe he will be willing to move on from PG at some point.

This also answers the question we had earlier about how much former players talking poorly about this team impacts Coach. They may be the ones who drive the change required to get the defense back up to standards.

Loved the article and I hope Coach is right about the turning point.

Nope. Won't watch. If it's not Simpson, or someone better than Milroe, I'll find another game to watch.
Milroe will be much improved or won't play and won't stay. I was too harsh toward him in his first start then had to come to recognize that Jalen Hurts, while never looking like Milroe at Alabama, is now an NFL MVP candidate. Who among us could have imagined that.

Milroe is a good running qb with average passing skills. BOB
did him no favors by not altering the offense in his one start.
Looking at practice video Simpson is a much better natural
thrower and I bet on him to start.

I sit here pondering what Bryce Young could have done the last two years with an OC that actually had a creative thought occasionally run through his gray matter. Yeah, Bryce won the Heisman last year. But he didn’t win it because of BOB. He won it “in spite” of BOB.
Sark or Kiffin would’ve had Jamo in the running for the Biletnikoff and Doak Walker award with the jet sweeps and deep balls.

18th in total defense averaging giving up 18.9 points per game isn't horrible, including the 52 by Tennessee. But it's a long way from where we should be defensively.

I'm anxious to see what Simpson can do. I hope he's our starter next year. But I would definitely have a wildcat package for Milroe. I think he would add a new dimension to our offense in that capacity.
