I don't get the Huge Sleaze fear. He had a decent offense at OM, but Bama was just beginning the transition to a more modern offense / defense. His SEC record is incredibly mediocre outside of beating Bama twice, both requiring legendary level of derp by Bama.Well I don't know how successful Freeze is going to be overall but for darn sure we better learn to play the ball in the air because if we don't he'll bomb a hundred points on us in the iron bowl.
When CNS announces it....When does the official search for DC or OC begin?
It isn't talent as much as practice time. In the NFL, they get pretty much limitless practice time. In college football, it is 20 hours per week, which includes everything including game play. Here's the difference I can see as to why that may be, it is the difference between a professional athlete and an amateur athlete. As good as the talent is that Bama puts on the field, the majority still won't be good enough to make it in the NFL. That's HOW GOOD the guys in the NFL are. Saban's technique may come more working on the professional level because the talent on that level is more capable of consistently doing it right.
And also that! Good point. It isn't talent as much as practice time. In the NFL, they get pretty much limitless practice time. In college football, it is 20 hours per week, which includes everything including game play.
well, at least at CB, almost all our guys not only make it in the NFL, but do pretty well. We have to go back to 2018 to find a CB starter going as an UDFA (S Smith), and even he has been able to stick around as a reserve/practice guy. most of the others are at least contributors, with many starters and some all league types as well (Armour Davis, Jobe, Surtain, Diggs, Averett, Wallace, Humphrey, Fitzpatrick)Here's the difference I can see as to why that may be, it is the difference between a professional athlete and an amateur athlete. Then the issue must be coaching, because the "stay in phase" technique (with our guys) gets us a ton of PI penalties every year then somehow when they go to the NFL they're a lot better at it while using the same technique. It can't be officiating because PI in the NFL is just as sensitive as it is in college.well, at least at CB, almost all our guys not only make it in the NFL, but do pretty well. There's 3-5 guys in the secondary that played in the Iron Bowl that will be on NFL rosters for multiple years.well, at least at CB, almost all our guys not only make it in the NFL, but do pretty well. Or maybe they just call it differently in the NFL?Then the issue must be coaching, because the "stay in phase" technique (with our guys) gets us a ton of PI penalties every year then somehow when they go to the NFL they're a lot better at it while using the same technique. I don't know, both college and pro's are very sensitive to a pass defender not turning their head to the ball because it is one of the keys the refs look for in determining whether to call PI or not aka "making an attempt to play the ball".Or maybe they just call it differently in the NFL?
That is what I can’t understand. Then the issue must be coaching, because the "stay in phase" technique (with our guys) gets us a ton of PI penalties every year then somehow when they go to the NFL they're a lot better at it while using the same technique. I think the opposing coaches have figured out to just under through the ball against our DB’s and we will get called for PI every time. If our DB’s would just look for the ball they would have 1 to 2 interceptions per game.I admit I do not know the ins and outs of the CNS technique on playing the WR/ball for his defensive backs.
However, based upon results, it is too difficult for collegiate players to master and is the direct cause of all the PI penalties. The DPI's are a result of the defender misplaying the situation and panicking/compensating with illegal contact. And I guarantee you this is something opposing coaches have yapped to refs about and refs are watching our guys like hawks.
AS I agree the D is outdated and needs to be updated, the DC is not going anywhere, BOB hopefully to NFL or elsewhere. When does the official search for DC or OC begin?
Unless he starts telling liesAS I agree the D is outdated and needs to be updated, the DC is not going anywhere, BOB hopefully to NFL or elsewhere.
Add in the fact that they had a slew of NFL talent that under normal-above-the-board-circumstances, wouldn’t have been in Oxford.I don't get the Huge Sleaze fear. I hate the hire as I hate seeing dirtbag humans 'succeed', but I LOVE the hire as a Bama fan. Get a decent DC in here and there are zero worries.
If we're stuck with Gol*ing, then every game worries me.
This right here.Add in the fact that they had a slew of NFL talent that under normal-above-the-board-circumstances, wouldn’t have been in Oxford.
