Bennett is not even the best player on his own team.
One could make a strong argument that Bryce wasn't either last year.Bennett is not even the best player on his own team.
but that guy didn't make Bryce look betterOne could make a strong argument that Bryce wasn't either last year.
I honestly don't really understand what that means.but that guy didn't make Bryce look better
Bowers (the best player on uga) makes Bennett look better. Will Anderson (who I assume you meant is better than Bryce) did not make Bryce look better.I honestly don't really understand what that means.
Yes, I know. He didn't win either is all I'm saying.,AJ went to NYC
This sums it up perfectly for me!!!UGA is a perfect fit for him. That being said, he's steadily improved over the last two years. He's not great, but he's very good and more athletic than one would expect. Like I said, I'm not a fan, but he's better than many want to admit. And if he were enjoying the same success with Bama, we'd be over the moon in love with him and his rags to riches story. But since he plays for a bitter rival who has now taken our spot atop the college football world, I'd like to punch him in the face.
and yet he still wasn't the best player on the team, which is what i thought the original issue was.Bowers (the best player on uga) makes Bennett look better. Will Anderson (who I assume you meant is better than Bryce) did not make Bryce look better.
I thought he had a better year 8 years ago when he was a Freshmen.Bennett is not even the best player on his own team.
Two words. System quarterback. Now you can say that about Williams, but Riley‘s system has won Heismans and put QBs starting in the league.Let me start by saying I HATE TENNESSEE.
Now, that being said, not inviting Hooker, after the season he's had, because he missed ONE GAME further adds to the narrative of what a joke this award has become.
Bennett’s case is a “lifetime achievement award type thing”.Bennett exemplifies what the Heisman has become in most years: The highest profile player on the best team.
I think you are vastly underrating Mac's playmaking ability by lumping him with the others. None of the others could hold a candle to Mac's accuracy IMO. And Mac played in a significantly more "wide open"/not-game-manager type offense than any of the others. The result was one of the best offenses and most dominant teams in CFB history. Our Titles have come from the Macs, AJ's, Cokers and McIlroy's...Not the Tuas , Jalens and Bryces...
Yes we got 2nd and 26...but most came from "Game Managers", not superstars.
I truly believe that it makes you more of a team if you don't have a Bryce to just sit back and watch while he puts the whole team on his back.
I wouldn't trade any of the guys we've had for anything in the world, but we win more with a team than a team of superstars.
Mac was not a 5* QB coming in…he was an afterthought…yes he was great after sitting for a long time and learning…and lighting it up on the scout team (not being g a smart aleck, some funny stories there), but he was not a “generational” QB.I think you are vastly underrating Mac's playmaking ability by lumping him with the others. To that point, the game changed and CNS was forced to change with it. We've only won 2 of the last 5 championships and played for another. Championships are hard as hell to win and we've still won more than our fair share.
Without our superstar QB the last two seasons, we probably have at least 4 or 5 more losses. It just so happens we have had the worst coordinators of CNS's tenure at the same time that we have had the best QB unfortunately. Golding/O'Brien (and some bad injury luck) are the reason we're not playing for a third straight championship this year. It is NOT because we have had a dynamic QB.
I do agree that we win more with a team. That goes for everybody. Maybe someone should hammer that into BOB's head since his gameplan the last two years has been, "Turn Bryce loose and hope for the best." Just imagine how prolific our offense (and our teams) could have been with Sark calling plays for Bryce...
And if Winston had been brought up on any charges AJ probably would have wonAJ did finish 2nd in 2013. The year crab legs won.
I hate Tennessee with the fire of a thousand suns, but Hooker not being invited over 1 game is a travesty.
We haven't won a championship the last two years because we have had the worst coordinators of Saban's tenure. Has nothing to do with the fact that we had a generational QB. And we actually made it all the way to championship game with Bryce.Mac was not a 5* QB coming in…he was an afterthought…yes he was great after sitting for a long time and learning…and lighting it up on the scout team (not being g a smart aleck, some funny stories there), but he was not a “generational” QB.
Remember his freshman pic? He was a tennis player…
On your Bryce point, 4-5 more losses, sure…still didn’t win a championship and that was my point.
You're reading too much into my point...I'm talking strictly about end results...hard facts. We haven't won a championship the last two years because we have had the worst coordinators of Saban's tenure. Has nothing to do with the fact that we had a generational QB. And we actually made it all the way to championship game with Bryce.
Your point seems to be we don't win championships BECAUSE we have a playmaker at QB instead of a "game manager." I am saying we don't even sniff the NC game (or even a 2-loss season) WITHOUT that generational QB.
Put McElroy, McCarron, Coker or any of those guys on either of the Bama teams the last 2 years and we are looking at 3-4+ loss teams.
