I know the default rebuttal is "Saban has a plan and knows what he's doing" so let's get that out of the way.
However, every player in the 2023 recruiting class has signed their letter of intent and all but four are already enrolled and on campus. So, I'm not sure "he's waiting until signing day has passed" is at play anymore as to why we've still yet to at least get a defensive coordinator in place. Ultimately, when we do sign a DC and it's not Leonhard and/or Pruitt, we may look back and realize that Saban's Plan A and Plan B may not have gone as planned and he had to pick Plan C. There's been too many reports that these two are high on Saban's list as a replacement for PG. I haven't done it yet because I think it is a loooong shot, but I swear if Todd Grantham is named DC I may go ahead and start buying cases of bourbon and get a head start on heavily drinking for the 2023 season. The longer this goes on without a hire the more likely Saban will be picking from way down on his "short list", if he's still on the short list at all. One possibility as to why Leonhard hasn't been hired is because he's being looked at by NFL teams, specifically the Minnesota Vikings, who are now rumored to be interested in Leonhard.
I still get the OC issue as it relates to BOB. The Patriots are the frontrunner of wanting BOB but Kraft is also now involved and he's doing a lot of house cleaning wrt to Bill B and the crap show he put on the field last year. I also know Tampa Bay, regardless of whether Brady is coming back or not, is also interested in BOB so the Pats have competition and BOB has options.
