Who Replaces Jimbo?

If I am TAMU and I'm willing to spend $76 million to fire Fisher, I would absolutely swing for the fences with this hire. Delusional and unrealistic perhaps, but I'd offer the following coaches a chance to be the richest men in the sport and force them to tell me "no" before moving on:

- Kirby Smart
- Jim Harbaugh
- Ryan Day
- Bob Stoops
- Lincoln Riley

All guys who have had extremely high levels of success at a P5 school in the last decade and at least one playoff appearance. None of these are realistic IMO, but if you're going to drop $76 million on a buyout you might as well go just as big on the replacement hire.
Hire Riley and you’ll be right back here in 3 years

Kiffin just makes SOOO much sense. He knows the SEC. His biggest weakness is recruiting which will get boosted at A&M dramatically. He wants the Alabama job and winning at A&M would give him a better shot at it. Sure he hasn't won the big games at Ole Miss but that's VERY hard to do there.

Idk if they hire Kiffin or not but I think he makes the most sense

If he were to land the atm gig, no chance he ever succeeds Coach Saban.

Personally, I don't think Kiffen is a great HC, but he is elite as an OC.

none of those make sense to me. Kirby and Harbaugh are already at their dream college jobs, Ryan Day is coaching at a much better program, Stoops whole thing was that he wanted to retire young, and Riley leaving USC just doesn't make a ton of sense to me culturally.

Totally agreed. I don't think any of these are realistic - but my overall point is that if you are desparate enough for high-level success to pay your current HC $76 million not to coach anymore, you'd be doing yourself a disservice to not call these guys and offer them the highest paying contract in the sport.

I don't think any of them would leave......but you never know, money still talks at the end of the day.

I don`t know what the dollar figure is that would make Kirby Smart seriously consider leaving UGA, but I`m pretty sure that it`s one that NO university, no matter how well heeled, can even contemplate. He`s home. About to make modern collegiate history with three consecutive national championships ( I think that qualifies as a dynasty myself ). Top recruiting classes for the foreseeable future. The guy`s on top of the world. Now you`ll excuse me while I go throw up.

You make it sound like he's got number 3 already in the bag. Lot's of football left to be played.

Not happening. Kirby would have to trade in the bowl cut for a buzz cut...

LOL! I figured somebody would call me out on that! First off, nobody SHOULD touch them in the regular season. Postseason? We may be the only ones who have a shot in the final analysis. Are we solid enough? Just not sure on that. Unfortunately, the alien will probably be 100% by the time we play them.

We are talking about Kirby here. His loyalty would disappear faster than ham at a church dinner if his ego was fed enough.

Kiffin would be my second call.

The point was not about whether they are likely to take the job. They are the best coaches out there, so take a swing for the fence by offering them the job. Worst they can do is tell you "no."

I'm not sure he's a great HC but he's clearly good. Loses all the big games though
Not to take up for Kiffin, but at Ole Miss he has never been close to even on talent level in any of the big games.

He did have some big wins at USC. In particular a win at Oregon that knocked them out of the running for the BCS and us back in. I can't remember if it was 2011 or 2012.

Maybe, but if there's one school that could throw enough $$$ to make it happen, it's A&M.

I know Urban Meyer was mentioned here and just ran across this short (5 min.) video where he is asked about whether he'd consider returning to coaching.

I know not everyone is a fan but I've always liked and respected the man for all he has accomplished.

Love ya Bazz, but this cat’s a piece of crap…
Talk about Kelly and a life @ ND…what happened w/Hernandez etc @ Florida isn’t any better…
