This is not the same place that passed up Bowden twice. That place had Joab Thomas leading the search, who in his great pretension did not realize who Alabama really is, which is not the Harvard of the South. No, this place has an accomplished AD, heavily supported by Nick Saban, conducting real search for the best coach available, with resources and prestige galore at their disposal.

IMO, your analogy does not seem to apply at all. They seemed to have ignored any flash or superficial beauty for someone with high football coaching substance. This will be even more important in the new more egalitarian college football world in terms of talent with programs distinguished more by the money that they offer vs tradition, good personality, sales pitches, etc. It's more, "how much are you paying for an inside OL?", rather than how many Outland trophies have y'all won? DeBoer will likely do well in this world where real coaching, Xs and Os, etc. will matter more.

I'm keeping my eye on what Milroe does. I just can't see him being the starter for DeBoer unless he suddenly develops into an outstanding passer. Julian Sayin would seem like a more logical choice unless DeBoer uses the portal if Sayin needs more time.

I hope he hires really good recruiters, because in four years recruiting at Fresno State and Washington he had 16 four stars and 0 five stars and not a single good class.

I mean... his success revolved around Penix and Covid seniors, let's see what else he has in store.

Beat a dead horse and then beat it again. 75% of the 4 and 5 stars come from the southeast and Texas. About 15% from California and 10% from everywhere else. 28 of the top 30 ranked kids on ESPNs top 100 are from southeast or Texas in 2024 class. It’s hard to get south eastern kids to go play football in Washington and Fresno is a mid major.

I'll try to make this the last time I point this out, but in 2019 and 2018 Washington recruited well. This included 16 four stars in one year. So, the issue isn't he recruited poorly in Washington. The issue is he recruited more poorly than his predecessors in Washington.

I hope that gets sorted out, obviously. But only time will tell won't it. So we'll see, first mission is keep the existing guys.

I don't but it would be a pretty huge win for DeBoer if he did. Not just because Bond is a good player but because it would be a great sign for the future

We'll see but I suspect before he does anything of finality Saban and DeBoer will have an opportunity to talk with him. If he goes after that then it was the right move for him and Alabama. You never want someone on your team who in their heart doesn't want to be there. But I love Bond and would wish him the best if that is his decision.

That's a bit harsh. He seems to be a great kid who loves Bama. I support Jalen in whatever way he can help the team, whether at QB or another position. He's an amazing athlete. Hopefully DeBoer can find the right position for him.
