Bama Players Transferring (catch all thread)

I can’t see a good reason for Smith to enter the portal other than $$$.
He is already a starter in a major program and has 1 year of eligibility left. I don't see how a transfer could improve his draft grade. So, it has to be about $$$, and it is possible that someone could offer him a bigger number than Alabama could.

Dylan Lonergan is visiting Georgia.
He would upgrade their QB room significantly.
IMO, he is better than their other QBs.
Y'all can take me to task on this, but I just have never understood the concept that DL was a super-star-sleeper in our QB room.

As best as I remember, he had a good showing in a spring game running the 3rd team, but that's about it.

I know we have had limited "proof" that TS could possibly step in and be a star, but there's far less with DL.

Again, JMO.

And, I'll add, if DL has looked at K. Russell's potential, he probably knows he'd likely be behind him on the DC at the end of spring practice. Frankly, I suspect DL hitting the portal has probably more to do with Russell than TS.

I want to point out few things about Ole Miss: They're snagging the players they want and it's two years in a row. I have a feeling this will blow up in Ole Miss face this time next year. If you can't recruit on the road, and you're using Portal to replace that... there's no relationship, no chemistry, no flow.
As long as they have a coach who makes in-game decisions like Kiffin, they will not be in contention.

I hate to see him transfer but in today's world of NIL he would have not been a priority for us. He isn't guaranteed money in the professional ranks and I personally can't blame a young man for trying to maximize his earning potential while he still has leverage. It is what it is until we start putting salary caps and contractual obligations in place.

My gut feel is that he wanted to move from Husky to one of the Safety spots., thinking he would be able to step in once Moore graduated (also kinda following Moore's trajectory of playing slot, then moving to S). When Hubbard stepped in so well for Sabb, and with Sabb likely coming back, that makes that move much less likely.

That, and likely looking for some $$ along the way as well.

He wasn’t a starter, but did get significant minutes

Came into his senior year barely holding off red Morgan (true frehsmen) for playing time. Went out barely holding off dashawn Jones for playing time. I think smiths decision makes more sense than some want to believe.

As far as this being NIL related, I just don't see it.
