Out of curiosity, what is your preferred destination? If I had to leave, I have no idea where I would go.

I'm hoping to bounce around a few countries around East Asia.

It's not easy getting extended visas so you have to be prepared to move around every 3 months until you get one to go through.

I'm looking into Thailand. I have a good friend that lived/worked there for several years. The people and the rules are very ex-pat friendly. Can be a very cheap place to live. The food is some of the best in the world. Bangkok is also a great travel hub. Always subject to change, but right now my wife and I are strongly looking into living there several months a year beginning in a few years.

There's some really good surfing in Thailand! :)

I do want to visit there at some point.

I've always had interests in the cultures of Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, and Thailand.

I've been hooked on Asian cultures since I was a kid. Finally got to live abroad (South Korea with a Thailand excursion) for a little while about 25 years ago. Was not able to go back until last summer (Japan and then Vietnam). Thailand trip hopefully soon. The calm and friendly attitudes of the people, the food, the architecture, the history ... I love it all!

If I had to leave and never come back I’d probably pick Australia. It would have to be an English speaking country and Canada is too cold in the winter and England just seems too stuffy for my tastes.
