If anything it underrated the SEC. The lowest rated team left is Arkansas at 36th. Everything else has gone relatively chalk going by KenPom. It had only one really bad miss relative to the SEC in the bad direction, Drake over Mizzou.

I am well aware of the league. I told people the WCC was bad as a whole. But, you can't say "take out Gonzaga" (SM beat the m twice). The point is comparing it to a 15 seed is ridiculous. Especially when they had just beaten Vanderbilt.

Thank you. This is almost identical to what Jay Wright said in the CBS post game wrap up. It wasn’t “St. Mary’s sucking”. It was Alabama’s defense taking away what they did best and relentless pressure on the offensive side.
That was his personal opinion on the SEC.
Agree, Bama had a hand up on most shots and made them take contested shots which resulted in misses. D stepped up, we were more athletic which helped our d as well. More about Bama stepping up effort and execution (also Grant starting again) than about them being overrated or anything.
You should stay out of the Bama threads for the remainder of the tournament. You can stick to the omnibus thread if you like. But, it’s time for you to sit out of the rest.

Feeling pretty good about this next one. BYU doesn't really fit the profile of a team that would give us trouble. Barring a bad day, or an unconscious shooting tear from BYU, these are the type of teams we usually roll.
Did you watch any of their game against Wisky?
They looked like a well-oiled machine while I was watching. Maybe that's because they were running against a B1G team?

I caught some of it.They're a good team. I'm not knocking them at all. It's just when you look at the teams who have beaten us in the Nate Oats era, BYU would be a bit of an outlier. They play at a faster pace than the teams that usually give us problems, and really don't have enough defense. They may drop 90 on us, but we may drop 110. Missouri did beat us, and they have a similar profile, but they shot out of thei minds that day, while we had a bad day. It's not a gimme by any means, but we should outscore them. This matchup is wayyy better imo than either Maryland or Purdue, which we would've likely gotten as a 1.
BYU did look pretty good against Wisconsin. Good ball movement and were shooting at a high % from pretty much everywhere on the floor.
I honestly was impressed with St. Mary's. There team chemistry was top notch. The amount of shots they missed from point blank range was astonishing. Kudos to the Bama defense.

They are Kentucky. Which bodes well for us.
I was about to ask if that was a decent comparison as far as potent offense and questionable d. How are BYU guards?
I was thinking the same thing about them. Hope we get the same result.
I've seen them play about 4 or 5 times down the stretch. They seem to be a whole lot more scrappier and aggressive overall than Kentucky. And they have more shooters. They will space the floor, drive, and kick to one of those shooters. They have a couple of inside guys who are tough rebounders and finishers around the rim. BYU started the year off slow, but they have been playing some of the best ball in the country down the stretch. They have trouble with really physical, defensive minded teams like Houston. They blew BYU out in the conference tournament and wore them down. Obviously, we don't play that way. This will not be an easy game at all, especially if they are making shots consistently, which they have been doing at multiple positions.
