BREAKING Milroe declares for draft

If that came to pass, the irony would be so ripe.

Daboll didn't want Jalen because of his struggles and I think Jalen (like day 1 at Bama) better than JM.

yeah - knowing how much Daboll struggled with Hurts, I can't see him watching film of JM and agreeing to bring him on board. Like you said, Hurts was a significantly better QB the day he stepped on campus than JM was the day he left.

Maybe a little birdie (GM )has whispered something in his agents ear. Hey, go to the draft, we gotcha.

That could very well be the case. I actually hope he goes in the first round. It is good PR for our program and adds to our recruiting pitch.
I don’t know that it’s good PR when most people consider Mac and Bryce NFL busts. Plus we aren’t allowed to claim Hurts for some reason. Another failed Bama QB won’t be a good look.

I'm trying to be positive here, help me out. :giggle:

Funny thing about Hurts is if you reversed it and he started at Oklahoma and transfered to Alabama and had the same pro career, these same idiots would still say we couldn't claim him. because it was only 1 year.

I believe we need more time on Bryce, especially since he started to change the bust narrative with his play in the second half of last season. He got thrown into a terrible situation with minimal surrounding talent (as are most QBs who go #1, outside of Caleb Williams), and it took him a season and a half to start to come into his own.

Assuming the Panthers invest in talent around him, Bryce could see success sooner rather than later. His QBR in his 2nd season was only two points less than Trevor Lawrence's was in his 2nd season, and that dude is now making $55 million a year despite a 22-38 career record. Heck, look at Sam Darnold. He just signed a $100 million contract, and it came after playing for seven seasons and three different teams.

Not every top-of-the-first-round QB is going to be a generational pick; sometimes, they need some runway to improve and grow into the role. That said, it doesn't look like Mac will get that chance, unfortunately.

I’m not saying Bryce is a bust, but that is the general narrative currently. He did show huge improvement after being benched, so we’ll see.

My point is it’s pretty clear Milroe is not going to succeed in the NFL, and it will just be “another typical Bama bust”. I mean, people call Tua a bust. They’re wrong, but perception is reality.

Milroe is not going to succeed in the NFL?

What is this you say? He's Vince Young and Michael Vick rolled into one....he's a sure fire star!!!

Meh, I think its generally a good thing. If you can sell a player on the fact that even our mediocre to bad QBs get drafted then its a good thing. And NFL teams are pretty good about scouting players not the helmet so it shouldn't hurt future Alabama QBs.

Worst case scenario you'll just have some random fans calling Alabama QBs busts but that shouldn't really impact much IMO.

No the general feeling for Bryce is it's still up in the air. He looked great the second half of the season after getting benched.

Hes still got an uphill battle because that roster is still garbage but the worm turned a bit for him by end of year two.

Also doesn't matter how generational you are as a talent if you play for a team as poorly managed as the panthers were when he was drafted. Stroud would have been in the situation had they gone with him.

Basically the situation w/any legit generational college player going into the NFL, especially at QB. Fit and supporting cast become key components to a player's individual success.

I am a 49ers fan and love Brock Purdy. However, I also don't think if he was the QB for the Panthers that he would be having the same success he's had up to this point in his career with the Niners. He's got a great cast and coaching surrounding him.

the panthers traded away 2 drafts to get Bryce. Why some NFL teams think this is a winning strategy, I will never understand.
