What do y'all think? I understand him being upset, but IMO some things were probably better left unsaid.

Hope JJ puts on a show Saturday.

Johns dogs Croom

Jimmy Johns stalked into the Alabama football media room Tuesday with about 15 minutes left in the interview period.

The Tide running back left a quarter of an hour later having gotten a year's worth of thoughts off his ripped chest and delivering messages like sparks flying off a grinding wheel.
Johns says Croom's actions were 'tuck your tail and run'

After last year's Alabama-MSU game, Croom said that Johns - who signed with the Tide as a quarterback before moving to tailback before his freshman season - would never play quarterback at Alabama.

"After the game, he ran off the field - like a dog, like a bulldog," Johns said. "He got beat and you tuck your tail and run. I was a freshman and for a head coach to say something like that, it gets to your heart.

Yeah, I had forgot that Croom said that about Johns last year. This fires me up for this game even more. Bama/Miss State has become somewhat of a rivalry game now. I like it!!

By the way, JJ had some nice things to say about Bama fans ...

"We're at home and I want everybody on Mississippi State's team to know why I'm at Alabama and that's because of these fans," Johns said.

"I want these fans loud - as loud as possible and just being in the game and letting them know how Alabama fans are."

Here's a better quote from the article.

"We went 10-2 last year, went to the Cotton Bowl, won the Cotton Bowl," he said. "I don't know what Mississippi State did. This year we're 5-3, two plays from being (7-1), one quarter from being 8-0. We're not low class. We play hard, play like champions."
And this tops the whole thing off...

Johns has a message for Alabama fans this week: "I want everybody from Mississippi on Mississippi State's team to know why I'm at Alabama," he said. "That's 'cause of these fans. I want these fans loud, as loud as possible, and just being in the game, just letting them know how Alabama fans are."
ROLL TIDE!

I hope and pray that coach Shula will allow Jimmy Johns to
go out prove to coach Croom why he commited to Alabama.

It takes a coward to tuck your tail and run like coach Croom
did and I really do admire Jimmy Johns for standing up for the
University of Alabama.

I am also proud of him for asking the Bama fans to get as
loud as they can and that he wants BDS to be completely
full.

GO! BAMA! GO!
BBEAT THE HELL OUT OF MSU!!!!

The stadium will be dead quiet. Students and fans will be hungover wishing they were still asleep. Our stadium hasn't been loud this entire year, and will not be until Auburn comes to town.

11 oclock games are terrible lol

I admire JJ's pluck and grit. But I would really rather he keep all of this to himself. I'm a fan of keeping the opponent's motivation to a minimum.

I think JJ's comments are anything but classy, even if they are accurate. Crooms showed him self to be a jack***, but that doesn't mean it's OK to stoop to his level. Beat their butts on the field and smile broadly as you walk off...

It'll be interesting to see if Johns gets as many attempts this week compared to Darby. I'm not saying the words of Johns will have anything to do with it or not, but it was interesting that he had 9 attempts last week and Darby had 10.
Shula said that Darby and Johns were both nicked up a bit after the FIU game.

Since JJ has been at Alabama, we have all considered him a very classy guy ... from his desire to play whatever position it took to get on the field and help the team ... to his willingness to play second wheel to Darby.

Without taking away from that at all, this year it has also become apparent that he is wound pretty tight ... witness the head butt and these remarks on Croom.

It's easy for us to say he should take out his frustrations on the field ... and that is what needs to happen. But the fact is he doesn't get that many opportunites ... which I'm sure only causes the frustrations to build.

This is not a slap at Coach Shula, nor a rehashing of the dozen Johns/Darby threads ... just an attempt to understand what JJ is going through.

Being one of the best athletes on either side of the field, and having to more or less "wait your turn" ... that builds tension on Saturdays rather than releasing it. JJ is a player, and he is used to playing.

Jimmy Johns has been a blessing to the Tide ... and much brighter days are ahead for him.
