Class act. Won Super Bowl. Team stinks. Why not try, NFL expirence. "Proven Winner" and young, 42. Tough guy that keeps discipline up and will win championships. This is a job that would suit him because of his bad team right now. He needs a change of scenary.

Re: John Gruden????

Look, I'm a HUGE Bucs fan, have been for decades, but to call Gruden a good coach is a bit of a stretch - he inherited a team that Dungy had competing for divisional titles year in and out and won the SB his first season. Since then he's 26-33 and we're SUCKING this season...

Re: John Gruden????

yeah and I'm a huge Bucs fan as well and Tampa's offense isn't anything to write home about guys

other than one good year using players Tony Dungy brought in, Chucky hasn't done a whole lot... Once the salary cap became a problem and the players had to leave, tampa's program has been on rapid decline...

and you can't watch a Tampa came and not see Gruden yelling "F*ck" or "that is Bull S*it" on camera, now I wouldn't really classify those traits with "class"... Now he fits pro football well, I DON'T want to see him at the capstone...

Re: John Gruden????

I like Gruden, but he is an NFL guy and unless he is run out of Tampa Bay, I just don't see it. He is probably not a long term solution by any means.

Re: John Gruden????

Well, he has a Superbowl ring. I dunno what happened in TB this season. Last year (2005) I think he went 11-5 and he was also able to win at Oakland. Hey, if he can win in Oakland he oughta be able to win anywhere.

Gruden may not want to be in the college ranks anymore, I dunno. But if discipline is a problem at Bama, I would expect Gruden would be tough enough to turn this thing around.

Given what has happened to us today, I dunno how many 'Proven Head Coaches' are left out there. I'd rather have him that the guy from Navy or Wake Forest.

:)

Re: John Gruden????

*Laughing* They might. He does have that stare.

Plus, I'm not sure how well another pro style offense would be taken here at Bama. Add to that the fact that one has to pretty much be an engineer to understand the technical jargon he uses to call plays.

But he is tough.

;)

. . . not to mention that the ROOKIE coach of the New Orleans Saints OWNS Gruden this season !!

( not that I'm complaining about that )

:p

Re: John Gruden????

And the title for the next movie would be:

Chucky kills the Bama football program has all the players say were not getting paid to put up with this crap, so we quit.:biggrin2:

Re: John Gruden????

Are you sure? With which team?

He won with Tampa. The year after Al Davis traded him.

Wait...............that's who we want the only coach in NFL history to ever be traded. Think if we get tired of him in a couple of years we could trade to another college of our choice for there coach and some cash?:biggrin2: :biggrin2:

Pete Caroll, Bill Bellichick, and Herm Edwards all were traded too.
