News Article: Vandy LB among 5 denied injunction for 5th year

The application of this rule is so inconsistent I don't understand why everyone doesn't apply for 5th year if they're not yet NFL material.

per the attorney for the players:

"Five for five is coming," Downton said. "The only question is whether the NCAA adapts voluntarily, or has its rule struck down after trial as the Court today emphatically rejected the NCAA's argument that its eligibility rules are above the law."

I do think the NCAA has allowed way too much inconsistency and ambiguity and it's allowed for a lot of legal challenges.

I think it should be 5 years to play 5, no exceptions whatsoever. No medical waivers, no special dispensation, etc...

But we have an NCAA that is letting players that got drafted in the NBA and played G-League basketball play, so there's no logic or reason to anything they are doing.

Bingo. That was the reason for the injunction that allowed Pavia and others the wavier for 2025. He basically said the number of years of eligibility is arbitrary. Look at how you, the NCAA, has historically passed out waivers.
