He's playing on the scout team and helping out in practice. He's still on scholarship and working towards his degree. Oats said he lost weight and strength in the G League so they're trying to build him back up. He sits on the bench at home games but they don't take him on the road to avoid negative attention. Bediako has now appealed to the Alabama Supreme Court. I wonder how fast (or slow) this will move. Will he have a chance to play again this season? Oh boy.

It was the same judge who denied the injuction earlier that ruled. They had to ask the local court before the Supreme Court could rule on it. I doubt the Supreme Court is going to move fast enough on it to make a difference before the season is over.

I highly doubt it. The Supreme Court would have to move quickly and grant him temporary relief which means he could play until his official appeal is heard. I'm not sure they'll weigh in before the season is over. Plus, with so few games left, I don't think it's worth the trouble and second PR hit for Bama to do it. But CNO may disagree. In my opinion, the team needs to continue to gel and try to peak instead of having to deal with that unnecessary controversy.

Wow! If true, the Justice System is screwed because that is exactly what the Appeals process is SUPPOSED to eliminate. (Not meant to go non-sports, but had to point that out.)

His case is going to be heard, so there's a chance that the NCAA is going to have their feet held to the fire, but at this point getting him eligible to play this season is probably more of a hindrance than help. I think we see some of the fruits of him practicing with the team though... especially with Sherrill.

My hope that whatever the situation, it some how sets the precedent for Bediako to sue the NCAA for monetary damages due to the inconsistency in determining among similar level of “professionalism” we see in college basketball.

I’m sick of watching players in college basketball that are 21 or 22 year old freshman and sophomores playing that probably made as much or more than Bediako while playing overseas. Either you take them all or you take none. Period.
