The Decline of the American Media IV

Regardless, the pardons were horrendous and should have NEVER happened!

I agree.
100%.
I wouldn’t have lost any sleep if they’d been mowed down by machine guns myself. It would have been justified.

But guess what?

For some reason in the “we want a colorblind society” mantra, a black guy having a rap sheet ten miles long is irrelevant when he gets shot dead resisting arrest, but the J6ers were all lifetime criminals although few in fact were. (Of course, a rap sheet a mile long DOES NOT justify police brutality either before that straw man is mentioned).

Kyle Rittenhouse is NOT a hero. I’ve made that clear. But if Jacob Blake had not gone to the girl he statutorily raped and made a mother, NONE of what happened in Kenosha would have happened either. But since he got shot attempting to GET IN A LETHAL WEAPON while resisting arrest, he somehow became a victim and Rittenhouse the main villain. A media interested in the truth would have told it the way l just said it.

HAMMER of JUSTICE: TMZ has launched a DC bureau (TMZDC) focused on congressional scandal coverage offering $100K bounties for incriminating evidence to support reporting on affairs like Rep. Tony Gonzales' case leading to his retirement. Their current target is reportedly embattled Rep Ro Khanna.

It's okay to be hopeful here (I guess) but I don't trust TMZ at all. When it comes to celebrity gossip/news, their sources have been impeccable and their sport-writing has been shockingly good. I can see how this style of journalism would easily transition to politics IF they are calling balls and strikes against both sides fairly. I just don't see that happening. We shall see, I suppose.

Gonzales is a Republican and Khana is a Democrat so they seem to be playing fair here. I have never heard of Khana or what this is about but if they are putting up reward money I suspect they are smelling smoke and looking for fire.

Patel's lawsuit alleges that the defendants published the piece "with actual malice, despite being expressly warned, hours before publication, that the central allegations were categorically false; despite having abundant publicly available information contradicting those allegations; despite obvious and fatal defects in their own sourcing." The lawsuit also claims Fitzpatrick relied on "anonymous sources she knew to be both highly partisan with an ax to grind and also not in a position to know the facts."

My guess is that Patel will lose this and wind up looking bad.

You’d think as many times as we’ve seen this same movie - MAGA gets mad, MAGA sues, MAGA says they can’t lose, MAGA fears discovery the same way bologna fears a slicer - this wouldn’t even make the news.

But people lined up to see 4 Jaws movies so…

Hey, hey, hey, the first Jaws practically invented the notion of the "summer blockbuster" and forever changed American pop culture. A little respect, sir. That's all I ask, nay....demand!

(But yeah, the other three...................)

So the Atlantic ran a defamatory hit piece on FBI Director a few days before the FBI announced indictment of the SPLC AND THE OWNER OF THE ATLANTIC IS OBSESSED WITH THE SPLC Hu, weird coincidence I guess

The ridiculousness of the propaganda rag known as The Atlantic.

September, 2020. The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg puts out a story claiming that Trump called Americans who died in war "suckers and losers." His sources? Anonymous. After it was published Trump hater John Kelly "confirmed" the story. Kelly was fired by Trump in 2018, the year that Trump apparently made this comment.

Why was this story being put out in September of 2020? We all know why. Immediately after this story came out Biden used this talking point during the debate, as did the MSM. The MSM reported this story as fact. Does anybody think they would have even mentioned it if it weren't Trump as the subject? Of course not.

BTW, it should be noted that the Hunter Biden story was about to drop.

Fast forward to 2024, exactly two weeks before the election. Jeffrey Goldberg puts out a story that Trump said in 2018 that he likes the generals that Hitler had. His source? Amazingly, Trump hater John Kelly again. Shockingly, Kamala immediately began using Goldberg's story as a talking point.

When asked why he was putting the story out two weeks before the election, Goldberg told Jake Tapper that he had the story earlier but that it took time to "confirm" it. It's provable BS.

In the story Goldberg wrote that he got the information from Peter Baker and then reached out to John Kelly to ask him about it one week before publishing his story. In other words, he contrived the story right before the election. Again.

BTW, hey Jake Tapper, you really couldn't figure out why Goldberg would be putting this story out about something Trump allegedly said in 2018 two weeks before the 2024 election? You refused to report on the Hunter Biden laptop in 2020 but you considered this story serious reporting.

The owner of The Atlantic (Steve Jobs' widow) has said that she bought the outlet to publish stories that create narratives. That's exactly what The Atlantic does. It publishes fiction to drive narratives.

Anonymous sources broke Watergate.
I'm just saying.
And remained anonymous for 33 years.

Btw - MAZE is also anonymous so the hypocrisy of "I'll quote this anonymous source and attack anonymous sources" is thick to put it charitably.
After it was published Trump hater John Kelly "confirmed" the story. Kelly was fired by Trump in 2018, the year that Trump apparently made this comment.

What's funny is Trump lover Stormy Daniels was also lying if I'm a member of the MAGA cult.
Meaning he paid her $130K for not having sex, amazing thing for a guy who doesn't pay his bills.

Why was this story being put out in September of 2020?
We all know why.

Probably because it had just been confirmed.

You know, there was a lot of trouble doing a lot of things in 2020, some of you might remember there was this pandemic that Corporal Bone Spurs mismanaged worse than Brian Snitker calling a hit and run.

Immediately after this story came out Biden used this talking point during the debate,

Immediately in this case meaning "26 days later," which is a few lifetimes in politics.

as did the MSM. The MSM reported this story as fact. Does anybody think they would have even mentioned it if it weren't Trump as the subject? Of course not.

You mean because they had John Kelly AND ANOTHER ANONYMOUS SOURCE and went with it.....oh yeah, and Trump is President of the US. Rules are different for what is reported. Sorry. If he doesn't like it, he can resign.

BTW, it should be noted that the Hunter Biden story was about to drop.

Yes, but the source of that was Biden hater Rudy Giuliani, and you wouldn't want a hater as the source, would you?

(Note: having had a brother IN THE NEWS MEDIA at the time, this was far more complicated than the simpleton Trump voter will ever be able to understand. Most thought it was probably authentic - but you don't use a solitary source from a campaign with every incentive to lie).

Also - since Hunter Biden wasn't running for President, who exactly cares?

Fast forward to 2024, exactly two weeks before the election. Jeffrey Goldberg puts out a story that Trump said in 2018 that he likes the generals that Hitler had. His source? Amazingly, Trump hater John Kelly again.

And?
I'm still trying to figure out the point.

Shockingly, Kamala immediately began using Goldberg's story as a talking point.

And?
How is that any different from "The NY Post made a claim about Hunter Biden's laptop and Trump used it as a talking point"?
Hmm?

It seems to me the Trump Dumpsters are just upset that in politics the opponent might get to use the same weapons he does.

When asked why he was putting the story out two weeks before the election, Goldberg told Jake Tapper that he had the story earlier but that it took time to "confirm" it. It's provable BS.

Let's look at how "proves" this.

In the story Goldberg wrote that he got the information from Peter Baker and then reached out to John Kelly to ask him about it one week before publishing his story. In other words, he contrived the story right before the election. Again.

I can't link the story here because it's full of F bombs.

But here's the problem: the Hitler generals wasn't even the biggest news in that story.

Go read it.
It's free online.

Trump offered to pay for a funeral and when the White House was sent the $60K bill, Trump said, "It doesn't take $60K to bury a (bleeping) Mexican."

Bear in mind, there's a paper trail from the lawyers and in office memos.

Former generals who have worked for Trump say that the sole military virtue he prizes is obedience. As his presidency drew to a close, and in the years since, he has become more and more interested in the advantages of dictatorship, and the absolute control over the military that he believes it would deliver. “I need the kind of generals that Hitler had,” Trump said in a private conversation in the White House, according to two people who heard him say this. “People who were totally loyal to him, that follow orders.”

TWO sources.
And in "The Atlantic" they even cite a denial by Alex Pfeiffer, who says it never happened - but of course he could only know this if Trump was never for one second out of his presence.

Oh and btw - the TRUMP SIDE cites AN ANONYMOUS GENERAL saying the following:

Last year, at a speech before a group of New York Republicans, while discussing the fallout from the release of the Access Hollywood tape, he said, “I went onto that (debate) stage just a few days later and a general, who’s a fantastic general, actually said to me, ‘Sir, I’ve been on the battlefield. Men have gone down on my left and on my right. I stood on hills where soldiers were killed. But I believe the bravest thing I’ve ever seen was the night you went onto that stage with Hillary Clinton after what happened.

Anonymous sourcing is suddenly okay???

BTW, hey Jake Tapper, you really couldn't figure out why Goldberg would be putting this story out about something Trump allegedly said in 2018 two weeks before the 2024 election?

Except the article doesn't say that occurred in 2018.
It doesn't give a date.
I guess MAZE got so emotional, he got his facts mixed up.

Bear in mind the article cites Trump's remarks from AUGUST 2024 (not 2018) when Trump himself described the Medal of Honor as INFERIOR to the Medal of Freedom given civilians. His words were condemned by the VFW, but I'm sure they're just a bunch of Trump hating sissies, too. Losers and suckers, all of them, in Trump's words.

2018 is mentioned later in context - with citations of Trump appearing on "60 Minutes" as well as saying he knew more about NATO than James Mattis. (none of this makes him look like anything other than the clueless twit he's always been).

You refused to report on the Hunter Biden laptop in 2020 but you considered this story serious reporting.

You mean because he wouldn't just take the word of a Biden hater???
Seriously?

The owner of The Atlantic (Steve Jobs' widow) has said that she bought the outlet to publish stories that create narratives. That's exactly what The Atlantic does. It publishes fiction to drive narratives.

An emotional, almost entirely fact-free rant from an anonymous guy whining about anonymous sources (except when they tout Trump) doesn't constitute proof of anything except maybe MAZE needs to break the pills in half before he takes them.

There are plenty - and I mean PLENTY - of bad media stories without making crap up like "they" (a conspiracy) were "out to get Trump."

If the Trump sycophants actually had had a clue how smart politics worked, they would have wormed the laptop through someone unconnected (but sympathetic to) their campaign, who would have said to the media, "I have this. I'm gonna give you first crack at this. But just know that if you don't take it, Fox News will, and you're gonna look stupid."

Honestly... Trump showed his true collars with his despicable remarks toward Senator McCain. And more than one source has discussed the horrible comments and his attitude about our brave soldiers who have been disabled or killed in combat. To criticize McCain as a 'loser' for being captured after his plane was shot down in action when he himself was a draft dodger with a fake medical history of 'bone spurs' illustrates what kind of person he is.

He doubled down on that when he attacked that Gold Star father in 2016.

And that's why there's not a doubt in any thinking person's mind he 100% absolutely said they were "losers" (a constant favorite word of his) and "suckers." Trump, of course, won the Medal of Dishonor at the Battle of Kitty Grabber Ridge and a Purple Heart for his actions at the Bowling Green Massacre.
