  1. Re: Another Bama player lost for the year: Labryan Ray this time

agree on DL. LB I think we got a lot of depth at OLB, but could have used one more ILB in addition to Harris and Lee. Although I guess 2 in a year is pretty good most of the time, the couple of...
  2. Question: Re: How should a team handle Clemson's 3-2-6 defense

The good news is that we've been running a version of this as one of our dime packages for the last 2-3 seasons so it's not like we haven't seen some of it, even if they do a few different things...

Re: Dylan Moses hurt according to Aaron Suttles

all true - but mosely only played in nickel, and he was not the defensive play caller. he got to get on the field and play without the burden of making reads and calls first. He wasn't the full...

    Re: 2019 Depth Chart released

Sometimes that's the case, and sometimes it's situational. i.e. Shy Carter. Probably start at SS if we are in base, but will be star in nickel, and mayden would start at SS <OR> if it's a...

    Re: 2019 Depth Chart released

Yeah. We have had specialists and I think we've had two starters on o before, I just cant ever remember have two d starters being true freshmen. Closest thing I remember is minkah and Harrison and...

    Re: 2019 Depth Chart released

two true freshman as starters (for both base and nickel) on defense for the first game. Can't recall that having happened before in the Saban era...
  9. Re: Anybody Else Both Look Forward To and Dread Scrimmage Reports?

agreed - we list him at 244 now, so in our new world of slightly smaller, faster athletes at ILB he's basically already the prototype. All our most recent starters have been in the 230-240 range.
  10. Re: Anybody Else Both Look Forward To and Dread Scrimmage Reports?

that's great to hear. looks like Latu is embracing the move also since he changed numbers to 81
  11. Re: Anybody Else Both Look Forward To and Dread Scrimmage Reports?

agreed - I think we all knew he is a freakish athlete to have played WR and DB at 230LBs but I know at least I thought it would take some time for him to learn how to play ILB since that was new to...
  12. Re: Anybody Else Both Look Forward To and Dread Scrimmage Reports?

I wouldn't sleep on Latu - he's close to 250, and reports have said might have best hands in the TE group.

    Re: 8/10 Scrimmage Updates

Sounds to me they are in the phase where they are trying to see who can really play where and which parts work best together in combination as well as ensuring the second line guys have some...

    Re: 8/10 Scrimmage Updates

We use 2 ILB in nickel. We take an OLB out. Only grouping we have with a single ILB is dime...
  17. Question: Re: Fall Camp: Which new players will make an impact?

There's a logjam of good players at OG right now for sure. 3 guys who have been starters either here or elsewhere (Dickerson, who was good enough to start as a TF), Ekiyor (who Saban put a lot of...
  18. Re: Is this the year Ben Davis “breaks out?”

not even close to the same. when Q was in second year as RF, he posted 20 tackles as a reserve and was heavy in the rotation, even getting two tackles against UGA in the championship game. Ben...

    Question: Re: Status of Anoma

yeah - I was thinking about it from a pure talent standpoint, not really from the missed production standpoint.

Foster certainly match the hype with production for sure, but to your point, the...

    Question: Re: Status of Anoma

I wouldn't put sheffield on that list. He was a 4th round pick and has a good shot at an NFL career, he just didn't stick with us.

One to add would be Tyler Love. highest rated miss, except...

    Question: Re: Status of Anoma

That's a bit shortsighted. We've had lots of guys who waited as freshman, and even longer and then made huge contributions ti the team. Losing any of those goes before they had their chance after...
  22. Question: Re: Fall Camp: Which new players will make an impact?

With Anoma out, we could see someone like eboigbe, k. Harris or mwikuta play a role for depth in some of the pass rush sub packages

Re: Will Nick Saban reign in Tua?

I agree - In the article, Tua said the problem against Clemson is what he wasn't taking what the defense was giving. Seems to me like he already, at least conceptually, got it. If that's the...

Re: Who throws for more yards Tua or Jalen?

But that depends on what his end goal is. If his goal is only to win games, then using his legs a lot is great. If he wants to win, but also has an end goal to make it to the NFL, he's going to...

Re: Are We Done at LB ?

Lot of talent on that list - Sewell looks like a throwback who'd likely have to shed some pounds and gain some speed or he'd end up playing outside as a JLB or SLB wouldn't he?
