    JessN: Assistant coach hiring tracker...

It may not work this way at Alabama but in some places, this is a research position. I work at a smaller University and that is what it does there, collects data, creates and implements experiments, tests new equipment, researches industry data, etc.. They communicate quite a bit with the SC...

    Game Thread: SEC Championship Game

You are right. I wouldn't say that to an LSU fan. LSU was better than us that night and deserves to be there. But I thought I could get away with it here. Also, Tua is way better than Colt McCoy. I think that is obvious to any football fan.

Much respect to both of these teams because they deserve to be here. But, in my opinion, if Tua doesn't get hurt against UT, we beat both these teams and Auburn convincingly. It just wasn't meant to be.

I agree. If you add in all the other rulings, (field goal at the end of the half, the holding call on the touchdown, the lateral not called or even reviewed, the fumble not called or even reviewed, etc...) it was maddening. I'm glad he said what he said. I would have said a whole lot more. His...

Putting the punter in seems to be a way to get Waddle on the field not keep him off.

Those are actual football plays. This is more like a hard count. You are attempting to cause the other team to commit a foul. But the hard count keeps the defense from timing up the snap and getting an advantage. It has a legitimate tactical purpose other than just causing a penalty.

I don't see how LSU gets Kennedy and Webb. The numbers are not there. I hope we get at lest one of them and keep our other guys.

JessN: Auburn wrap-up: A loss of systemic proportions

I think there is a problem with the defense. It seems easy to read and seems to not be able to avoid unfavorable matchups. Shy Carter and Shane Lee were ask to do things that aren't their strengths. The corners are ask to do alot from islands that everyone knows they ar on. I think we can...

JessN: Auburn wrap-up: A loss of systemic proportions

Tom Landry invented the 4-3 flex defense for Jim Brown. Dan Marino's Dolphins and other passing offenses came along and the flex was toast. Landry couldn't bring himself to change what he really believed in. Change is hard but it us necessary. Saban has shown in the past he is willing to change...

Losing hurts but losing when you have the most talent really hurts. There is no excuse for this. Penalties, turnovers, bad tackling, situational unawareness. Very disappointing.

ADMIN NOTE: Tua being flown to Houston for Monday surgery

I have no information but I have heard there is a Dr. Mansour that specializes in hip restoration somewhere down in the Houston area. He is supposed to be the best, in for lack of a better term, at saving the hip joint. Could be totally wrong. Just worried and looking for a bright spot.

    Tua's Injury

Prayers for Tua and his family. Hope and pray he fully recovers. He made alot of incredible memories for all Alabama fans and will always be an important part of the Alabama family. I pray for his Doctors and medical team and while it makes me sad I don't really care if he ever plays for Bama...

JessN: LSU wrap-up: Whether system or players, Alabama just didn’t have what it needed

More good stuff here. I trust your analysis of Eboigde, I thought he looked like he was a little slow off the ball but had the blend of power and speed that this defense requires. He stopped playing so something went wrong. Next year I think he should be better. I agree about the specialization...

JessN: LSU wrap-up: Whether system or players, Alabama just didn’t have what it needed

I love these write-ups and scheme vs. personnel discussions. I think the scheme is good and the personnel is good but they aren't the best fit. Alabama is best in man to man but the scheme works best as an umbrella zone. The defense lacks speed on the back end and the front lacks explosiveness...
