Daniel Carlson was a better kicker than any of those guys. He was consistent and had more leg. His NFL career hasn't been stellar but he's the only one of them that had an NFL career to speak of. -

Auburn has had some great players over the years, including some Pro Football Hall of Famers. But, yeah, Bo Jackson is the only one I can think of, even aided with some quick Googling to refresh my memory, who would be first team at any position. Yup. These guys are pros and do their jobs until it's not their job anymore. And the reporters have to keep reporting even when there's no news, because people like us are checking every few minutes to see what's new. So speculation and happenstance wind up passing as news. -

For sure. But the same fans are happy to call for the firing of an assistant coach (BOB, Pete) they don't like. Or to root for the poaching of assistant coaches from other staffs (almost all of our assistant coaches!). -

I find the process frustrating but, as a coaching friend points out, it's not Grubbs' fault that the NFL coaching hiring cycle runs later than colleges'. DeBoer's taking the Alabama job rendered Grubbs unemployed, so he pretty much had to take the offer to follow him to Alabama once he wasn't... -

Even a week or two later would have been better, as classes would have been well underway pretty much everywhere and transferring would have been much harder because of eligibility issues. At that point, players might as well stay in school through the end of the semester, participate in spring... -

Yep. But, first, there wasn't a guy on Saban's staff that it would have similarly made sense to hand over the keys to the program to. And, second, Saban announced his retirement at the worst possible time for player retention, with time to transfer to a new school and compete in spring... -

Multiple sources reporting that Harbaugh and the Chargers are close to a deal. Obviously, that means the Michigan portal would open for 30 days. And, if they don't elevate Sherrone Moore to replace Harbaugh, at least one other school's. -

What makes you think we weren't already doing the same thing? We've had multiple Georgia transfers on the roster, just took a kid from A&M---even had an offensive lineman from poor little Vandy. And, obviously, we're now feasting on the remains of DeBoer's Washington team.
