    ESPN Classic Alabama-Auburn Marathon

Don't know why I was just moved to check what might be on ESPN Classic this coming week, but they are running 7 straight Alabama-Auburn games starting this morning at 8 a.m EST! They aren't consecutive years, but the marathon starts with the 1984 and 1985 games at 8 and 10 a.m., then the 1997...

    Darby is hanging in there

News on the ESPN transactions site--the St. Louis Rams have (re-) signed their second string RB Kenneth Darby. Darby joined my ranks of favorite Alabama players, ever, that year we didn't have any other offense, period, and he just carried the team. RTR

    Shaud Williams

The UFL game between Florida and California is just starting on Versus and I turned it on because Shaud Williams is on the Florida team. He was out for the toss like he was a game co-captain.... RTR

Dolphins' Justin Smiley out for the season

I looked back to Nov. 30 without seeing this posted: << Guard Justin Smiley, the team's top offensive lineman, broke his right leg when a Rams defender rolled up on it in the first quarter of Sunday's 16-12 win over St. Louis. >>...

    Trouble signing in to TideTV

Is anybody else having trouble getting into the new TideTV for the game? I could sign in last night and looked at some video. Today it keeps saying "We're Sorry, The Page You Requested Does Not Exist." Including articles I read yesterday, not just video. I'm wondering if the fans are...

A reminder of what it's really all about

<< I have never seen my flankerback nephew Frank Fleming so emotional. As my 9-year-old daughter put it, “He was so happy he was crying.” In that brief moment, as I was experiencing tears of joy for him, suddenly all the torture from the past evaporated. All the bitter defeats, all...

Alexander bucks odds, closing in on age 30

Seattle paper article on Shaun: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/miller/327260_miller11.html Sounds like they are more worried about his line than about Alexander. Sounds like last year and Darby... RTR

UK and UL Coaches: "These Guys Have the Best View on the Gridiron"

<< U of L coaches usually come in, shower, eat, and have the entire practice on their laptops, with dual views of each drill, tabbed so they can pull up any one at the click of a laptop button. >> Interesting story about the way practices are videotaped, broken down, and gotten to the coaches...

    "Saban Meets the Myth"

Anniston Star editorial, with great old-timer memories: << All the talk focused on Nick Saban's multi-million dollar salary strikes me as being out of proportion. How does one set a price on entry to a mythological kingdom where the challenge is not the play of college boys but besting mythic...

Hey, Petrino, you're not at U of L anymore

Tongue-in-cheek opinion piece by Louisville sports columnist Rick Bozich, explaining why a college coache who turns pro might feel he'd rather be coaching back at the college level again. Not one of my favorite writers, but this is pretty funny...

http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/football/nfl/kansas_city_chiefs/15274816.htm << Croyle has an injury-filled history, which is perhaps the biggest reason he wasn’t drafted higher. He played through rib and shoulder troubles as a sophomore at Alabama and missed all but...

    Another Prayer Request

On the heels of our losing Jay Lisby, I learned that the man I worked 21 years for, until 1995, had surgery for bladder cancer a month ago, and that it does not look good for him. I talked with him on the phone for a few minutes this morning, but he was really too weak to talk... Ray was a...
