The Future of Alabama Basketball and Anthony Grant

Yep. If it's not raining, then I'm umpiring baseball this time of year.

The Future of Alabama Basketball and Anthony Grant

Barring rain, this will be the first season since the Gene Lambert days that I won't attend a single home basketball game. My Dad would roll over in his grave.

In addition to putting a quality product on the court, Wimp allowed the Sports Info Dept to "market" him personally. Even the non-conference games drew well due to Wimp's personality.

The Future of Alabama Basketball and Anthony Grant

Re expectations for our basketball program: Alabama is second only to Kentucky in winning percentage for regular season SEC games. Our expectations have been high for a long period of time. And they should be.

The Future of Alabama Basketball and Anthony Grant

It's hard to have a consistent (or creative) offense without shooters, which goes to recruiting. Think of how many games we would have won over the past three years with just one or two more outside baskets per half. I love the way CAG coaches the defense, but he has very limited concept of...

And so it begins: Auburn fans blaming loss on referees.

Re: And so it begins: Auburn fans blaming lost on referees. Then you don't want more refs.

Link: New AD Bill Battle comments on the need for a new baseball facility...

Makes no sense whatsoever to spend $30 million trying to upgrade the Joe in it's current location. Move it somewhere on the Partlow property & make it a real park. The current location could then be used for much-needed parking or other football/basketball/gymnastics expansion.

    2013 AHSAA Baseball Playoffs

In 25+ years of officiating multiple sports, I've never had as good a time as I did this past weekend (PCA vs MCS, 2A). Not only was the baseball very competitive (2-1, 2-0, 4-2), the sportsmanship shown by both of the teams and their coaching staffs was outstanding in every way.

    Finebaum finally leaves WJOX

Other than the guest segments, he lost me a few years ago when the show became "Jim Rome Lite". I'd like to see him cut back to two hours -- 4 PM to 6 PM.

AJC: Saban-In the presence of greatness

That was my first thought, as well. I hope Bisher is rolling over in his grave.

Question: Favorite "Keith Jackson" broadcast quote from a Bama game.

Keith Jackson and Frank Broyles. Yankee-Americans had to have a translator. "Whoa, Nellie!"

    Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge

I feel like it will be Muffburger & Herbie.

    Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge

This. Actually, I'd take any combination of Nessler/McDonough and Danielson/Herbie/Blackledge. Too bad Ron Franklin messed in his nest.

News Article: Nick Saban Better than Coach Bryant with win?

OK, I'm older than many on this board, so I'm biased toward Coach Bryant. I can say one thing with certainty: Coach Saban had MUCH more to work with when he came to Alabama than Coach Bryant did. That said, I believe Coach Saban to be every bit as good a coach of football as Coach Bryant was...

Another ND Fan Impressed By Bama Fans

Like many older 'Bama fans, my dislike of ND is threefold: (1) They played for a tie vs Michigan State in 1966 instead of trying to win the game. (2) They refused to play in bowl games, until the AP & UPI began deferring their final votes until after the bowls were played. (3) They browbeat...

What Is Bama's Greatest National Championship Performance? (Modern era)

How many 'Bama fans remember "the rest of the story" in the '78 PSU game? With about 6 minutes left in the game after the Goal Line Stand, we took over at our 1 and ended up having to punt. PSU was going to have great field position (our 20) with plenty of time on the clock, but Woody...

What Is Bama's Greatest National Championship Performance? (Modern era)

I remember them all, and attended many. For my money, it's the '92 NC. To hold that Miami team to a single offensive score was just unbelievable. We sat in the corner of the end zone under the overhang of the mezzanine, and the noise was so loud that I had to shout into my wife's ear just to...

Getting out of Tuscaloosa has become a nightmare

One suggestion: Park downtown & ride the bus to the stadium. You can then get on I-359 to get to I-20/59 fairly easily after the game. Also, I-20/59will be three-laned to Tuscaloosa next year, if all goes well.

    Question: Couple questions

The complete brackets can be found here: http://www.ahsaa.com/Sports/Football/History/PlayoffResults/2012FootballPlayoffResults/2012FootballBrackets/tabid/4069/Default.aspx Basically, it's 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, 5 vs 6, & 7 vs 8. A kicker is protected when it's obvious that a kick will be made. If...
