In the days after President Trump fired James B. Comey as F.B.I. director, law enforcement officials became so concerned by the president’s behavior that they began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests, according to former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation.

The inquiry carried explosive implications. Counterintelligence investigators had to consider whether the president’s own actions constituted a possible threat to national security. Agents also sought to determine whether Mr. Trump was knowingly working for Russia or had unwittingly fallen under Moscow’s influence.

Republicans have been world class about changing the narrative; collusion isn’t a crime, conspiracy is.
I know they are similar in meaning, but you haven’t heard ANY Trumper say “there is no conspiracy” or “ where’s the conspiracy?”.
Some of them may indeed be so ignorant they don’t understand the words basically mean the same thing, but only one of those words is actually used in the criminal statute, and Trumpers never use that word. Propaganda at its finest.
Junior and JK are both guilty of conspiracy, because it only implies intent (either vocal or written), not actually doing something.
I actually know a guy ( not a friend, just an acquaintance) who was trying to be a big shot and told a DEA agent he could get him an ounce of cocaine (he was trying to impress the ladies present); he couldn’t actually do it and when the agent finally realized that he was upset and the guy did five years for conspiracy to distribute.
So yeah, it’s all about intent. And really you don’t even have to mean what you say (or write in an email); just saying or writing it is the crime. As a defense, “ I didn’t really mean it” is about as effective as a screen door on a submarine.

Roger Stone indicted on charges brought by special counsel

Roger Stone has been indicted by a grand jury on charges brought by special counsel Robert Mueller, who alleges that the longtime Donald Trump associate sought stolen emails from WikiLeaks that could damage Trump's opponents at the direction of "a senior Trump Campaign official."

The indictment's wording does not say who on the campaign knew about Stone's quest, but makes clear it was multiple people.
This is the first time prosecutors have alleged they know of additional people close to the President who worked with Stone as he sought out WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
Seven counts: One count of obstruction of an official proceeding, five counts of making false statements, and one count of witness tampering.

Observations:
- Mueller has already been tying Wikileaks to Russia and Manafort to foreign money laundering.
- Now he's beginning to connect Wikileaks to the Trump campaign, and the laundering string remains dangling.
- The indictment makes it clear that multiple Trump campaign officials were aware of Stone's activities, and had actually tasked him to pursue them.
- Yet so far, only Bannon has been implicated in this.

Prediction: more will come from the money laundering angle, likely involving the Trump Organization and various real estate schemes, and the kids are next up on the indictment list.

It is a high probability that a Russian bank will be highly involved with Deutsche Bank in laundering Russian money that ended up being "invested" in Trump properties around the world. We know that there is an ongoing battle for financial records and the bank involved in the subpoena is being charged $ thousands in penalties per day until they supply the subpoenaed records. The issue appeared so politically toxic that the Supreme Court refused to take up the case. Most of us likely agree that illegal financial dealing is Trump's great "Achilles Heel" and could ultimately lead to his resignation from office. Will the Republican's persist in their efforts to protect him from such obvious felonies?

“What I also know is that outlets like yours, CNN, spent a significant time looking for information on Wikileaks and also reporting on it,” Sanders told CNN’s John Berman. “Does that mean CNN is guilty of collusion? The charges brought against Mr. Stone have nothing to do with the President.”
