Joe Lieberman urges New Yorkers to vote for Joe Crowley over Ocasio-Cortez

Joe Lieberman, an ex-senator with personal experience coming back after losing a primary challenge, is urging New Yorkers to vote for Rep. Joe Crowley, the longtime Democratic incumbent who lost to progressive Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in an upset that sent shock waves through the Democratic establishment.
Ocasio-Cortez’s victory “seems likely to hurt Congress, America and the Democratic Party,” Lieberman, a Connecticut Independent, wrote in a Wall Street Journal op-ed. He encouraged voters to support Crowley, whose name, as of now -- through a quirk of New York election law -- will appear on the ballot as the nominee of the Working Families Party.

Crowley has insisted he’s not running and has stated his support for Ocasio-Cortez. However, in a Twitter feud last week, Ocasio-Cortez said Crowley intends to mount a third-party challenge to her general election campaign in November.

Or maybe he feels like she is in over her head.....and he doesn't want to risk hurting the Democratic party for the rest of the midterms....or maybe since he's Jewish he didn't like her answer on this.....

The socialist is apparently challenged when it comes to understanding economics or unemployment. So is this a microcosm of things to come? Choose between an ignorant socialist or an ignorant populist? No, thanks. Pray to God for the rise of 3rd parties or independents if that's the case.

nobody in the democratic party really gives a crap what this douchebag says.
Are you referring to Cortez? Lieberman? or Crowley?

And if you are talking about Lieberman - what exactly about Joe do you find "D-baggy"? He's one of the most respected Senators over the past 20-30 years.....by both sides....

i think folks are attaching a little too much weight to a 28 year old in a single house race in a very democratic district and what that means.

there will be a lot of very concerned "democrats in disarray !!!!!" pieces between now and the election to try to keep the horse race narrative alive.

Seems pretty obvious that he's referring to Saavedra--you know, the guy whose tweet you posted and that 92 included in his reply?

b.s.

Why Democrats don't like Joe Lieberman

There are people in Washington who would be happy to see Joe Lieberman return to public life. They just don't happen to be members of the party that once nominated him for the second highest office in the land.

That's what happens when you commit partisan treason.

Lieberman, a longtime Democratic senator, became a pariah in his own party in 2008 when he not only endorsed the presidential bid of his GOP buddy, John McCain, but lambasted his own party's nominee, Barack Obama, during a speech at the Republican Convention.

Apparently not as obvious as you thought..... lol, but I do admire that you threw him a life preserver.....he just didn't want to catch it.

Also - Saavedra's tweet doesn't negate the video of what she said.....it wasn't his opinion, it was hers.

Re: 2018 midterm elections catch-all thread

true.....but if you do, you have to deal with the wrath of the Democratic party. He was a former VP nominee.....but he broke away and was punished for it.
Oh yes the "wrath." What great punishment to no longer belong in a party where your views don't fit.

Re: 2018 midterm elections catch-all thread

remember both sides respected him, the most respected senator ever, but the dems respected him so much he punished him with wrath.
They did until he disagreed with them on a few things....his approval went from 60% to 30% not because of his work in the Senate, but because he disagreed with the party. But hey.....maybe your issues with Joe run deeper, not sure.....

What's your biggest issue with him? The one thing that caused you to call him a d-bag....

Breaking: approval rating drops when you disagree with your political party on minor issues like who should be president.
