Has anyone ever made a grill/smoker out of an old propane tank? I recently got an old 250 gallon propane tank that I am about to start working on, and I'm looking for some ideas.
I cut the valve off yesterday. That was invigorating/downright scary. I'll start cutting the doors tomorrow. I'll try to take some pictures and post them as I go.
I personally have never done any work of this kind, but if you want a wealth of knowledge about bbq, check thesmokering.com. They have a forum specifically for building smokers. I'm feel positive someone over there will have some info about using old propane tanks. Good luck and keep us updated.
Finally got the doors cut out. Some of the cuts are rough. I let some of my Metal Fab kids use the Plasma to make some of the cuts. The tank is just over 6 1/2 feet long. The doors are 33"x24" with a 3" division in the middle. We lit a fire in it to get the smell out of it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/61294043@N04/5580183957/Ok, so I tried to upload the picture from Flickr and it failed...
