Not really. We were 10-1 and faced an 8-3 team that traveled over 3 1/2 hours to our place and drummed us 49-0. So much for home field advantage.
We will have to agree to disagree because I know that I will never be convinced that it is not an advantage to play at home in front of your fans in a big game. It does not guarantee success, but it is an advantage.

Yes but one team does not deserve to host every single playoff game. Granted it still happens as there is no perfect system, but this is plain as day. It gives every team an equal share to host if you make it far enough.

Sports are not meant to be "fair" in this sense - they are meant to reward hard work and excellence. In fact, sports is one of the few areas that has not been taken over by the politically correct crowd - though they try every year. IMO, if you earn home field, you should get home field. If you have not, you should pay the price and play on the road. We can discuss a method of seeding that is not driven by "people" polls if that is what concerns you, but seeding is an important reward for teams that work hard and excel throughout the regular season.

It is my understanding that Alabama moved to this system because of the costs of traveling and the financial rewards that came along with hosting a playoff game (ticket sales, parking, concessions, etc). They wanted to "spread out" the cost and the reward. But they did so at the expense of the sport itself, IMO.

I just wanted to add that I do understand your point of view - we simply disagree.

So, are you saying that St. Paul is seeded higher than Hueytown? How that happened has to have been due to bias. Hueytown is undefeated and hasn't had a game closer than 20 points. Beat a 6A team that made it to the second round of the playoffs. Doesn't matter, going into the 4th quarter and Hueytown is beating the crap out of St. Paul's 39-6
