Majestic Heat gets chance to shine in La Canada

Majestic Heat became a graded stakes winner in the Bayakoa Stakes at Los Alamitos last month.

ARCADIA, Calif. – Competition for Majestic Heat soon will be stronger than the distaff hodgepodge she meets Saturday in the Grade 2 La Canada Stakes at Santa Anita.
But until Paradise Woods recovers from illness and Unique Bella stretches to two turns, Majestic Heat will show the way as the solid favorite in the $200,000 La Canada, shortened this year to one mile and likely to include a field smaller than the nine entered.

Sky Defence prevails in Winsham Lad Handicap

Sky Defence became a stakes winner Sunday when he darted to a 3 3/4-length victory over L.A. Tower in the $65,000 Winsham Lad at Sunland Park. Forest Mouse, the 10-year-old seeking to win the race for the third consecutive year, finished third.

Frost Wise noses ahead of Riot Worthy to win the Bay Ridge on Thursday.

“I thought she might take herself out of the game,” said Dilger, who, to this point, had not seen much tenacity from his filly.
But after a stretch-long duel inside of Riot Worthy, Frost Wise got her nose on the wire before Riot Worthy to win the Bay Ridge for New York-bred fillies and mares at Aqueduct. Riot Worthy finished second by 2 3/4 lengths over Frostie Anne. It was 14 1/2 lengths back to Frosty Margarita. Might Be scratched.
The Bay Ridge was first scheduled for Dec. 29, but didn’t fill that day and was twice....
