First off there is a great coaching tree connection between Alabama and ND that I think is pretty cool.

Bear Bryant starred at end for Alabama (which I am sure the Alabama fans know) opposite the great legendary end Don Hutson in the mid-30's Their coach, one of Alabama's all time greats was Frank Thomas. Thomas played QB under the legendary Knute Rockne at ND with George "Win one for the Gipper" Gipp and later with the Four Horsemen in 1922.

Also, this matchup will be...epically hyped.

As begrudging as some of the college football world may be, this is a match made in NCAAF heaven. The young and old will be drawn to this one.

I am a stats junkie, so I like this... I think some of these stats get slanted (on both sides), but it makes for fun conversation!

It will EASILY be the most highly watched college FB game in 20 years. The highest in the last 20 years according to USA Today was the ND-FSU "Game of the Century" back in 93. FSU was #1, ND was #2 that game was on in the afternoon and got some crazy Nilson rating between 16-18. The game in January will be prime time it will probabaly get a 20 rating.

Great for college FB, I expect a tight game UNLESS ND turns it over. I also expect Alabama to win by 6-7 points.
