I have come across some really good raw ncaa statistical data. I had an idea to create a database and generate my own reports/comparisons. After a few days of playing and trying to verify the accuracy, I posted a pdf of the first few pages of a document that as I add to it, will give a great picture of the BCSNC game from a statistical standpoint. I'll be adding to it almost daily. You guys check it out and give me some feedback on the presentation, and certainly let me know if you believe there is an error. I have a long term project of creating a web site where the user could generate their own reports based on choosing certain flags and options. I am a loooong way from that, but this small project will help me verify the accuracy of the data, and the integrity of the relationships in the database. I have the entire season indexed on a play by play basis, and plan to use that to generate some situational play calling tendencies. Take a look and let me know...I could use some good feedback

I find the statistics there a bit limited, they concentrate on summaries and totals and don't provide much detail. The data I'm using to generate the stats is the same data

One thing that stands out is "average team ranking" as it appears on the Strength of Schedule. In statistical terms, the mean is inappropriate for using on ordinal variables such as team ranking. The median is more appropriate.

Wikipedia: Level of Measurement
This is probably all just for grins, but if you want to be serious, you can.

It was just for grins.... but good point, I'll change that. Thanks for the input

I'd be interested in seeing, for all teams, # of kickoffs kicked and # of kickoffs received.
Do you have that readily available?

FCS schools included when playing a FBS opponent only, Kick Returns is actual number returned, does not take into consideration touchbacks... as you can tell I still need to polish this up a little ... I have not checked this for accuracy

I'd be interested to see what it would be like if touchbacks could be included, and FCS teams excluded.
As it is, Alabama has a 4.84:1 kickoff to return ratio, exceeded only by Cal Poly who has 5:1 from a single game against Wyoming.
