Notre Dame and Oklahoma are the only schools recognized as achieving "dynasty" status in two different eras.
Looks like Notre Dame got the right coach.Interesting note - one of the dynasties listed on the wiki page, Grand Valley State, was lifted to prominence by Brian Kelly - the current head coach of Notre Dame.
Heck, I'll just be happy if he can show that the NCAA even recognizes these - then I'll have learned something.I think what you are missing here is that nobody cares what the NCAA thinks.
Maybe somebody from the NCAA once spoke at an FSU banquet and said the word dynasty.Heck, I'll just be happy if he can show that the NCAA even recognizes these - then I'll have learned something.
Not holding my breath...
This.Of all the things.
Dynasties aren't awarded by the NCAA. They are in the minds and memories of football fans.
From Florida State University websiteAgain, your only two links are to a Rivals page & a Wikipedia page. Come back with something credible and we might believe you. Why can't we find any of this info on the NCAA website?
Fair enough, now we've got something from a more credible site, an actual University's website. From Florida State University website
Last year, the NCAA proclaimed the Seminoles to be one of the only eight official dynasties in the 130-year history of college football. The recognition was based on an extraordinary, unprecedented run of 10 consecutive 10-or-more-wins seasons, and 10 consecutive Top Four finishes. No other team has matched that record, and it is unlikely that any ever will. http://www.fsu.edu/~fstime/FS-Times/Volume3/nov97web/2nov97.html
That's only an article from the school newspaper, the now defunct Florida State Times. From Florida State University website

The first person I heard discussing the College Football Dynasty recognition award status was Jim Dunaway on his radio show several years ago. If anyone knows him well enough maybe he can provide more details about the award.Fair enough, now we've got something from a more credible site, an actual University's website.
Still though, if any of us are actually going to believe in this, we're going to need it from an NCAA press release or the NCAA website.
You've got to admit, it's more than a little curious that the only places you've found this info is, Wikipedia, FSU Rivals site, and a retro 1997 newsletter archived on FSU's website. Surely you can admit that's a little bizarre?
it just reminds me of non-sportsI feel as if I've entered Bizarro World. Ugh.

Dynasty status is imaginary, and isnt recognized by any official organization, including the NCAA... Although the debate continues on Tidefans.com
