News Article: First Round of BCS TV Ratings Look Good

An interesting look at the early ratings for the Rose Bowl and Orange Bowl. The Orange Bowl saw a significant increase from last year, but it needs to be said that it enjoyed a lead-in from a competitive Rose Bowl game as opposed to being on an island by itself last year:

And, as expected, the Birmingham market tuned in big for both games:

A 20.7 average for the Rose Bowl and a 19.9 for the Orange Bowl.

I still expect the Alabama/Notre Dame national average to be around 14-16, maybe a tad bit higher... which would be incredibly impressive for cable.

I think it will be higher than that. It should rival the UTx/USCw game.
That game was on broadcast television and did a 21.7. It's next to impossible for a cable broadcast to get that type of number now.

The highest championship game on cable was Auburn/Oregon, which did a 16.1 (About 27.3 million people). Alabama/LSU did a 14.01 (24.1 million) last year.
