I know that there are many of you who want an NFL model for college football, but I really hope that is not what we come to. I can't stand the NFL. If you guys want an NFL model, just watch the NFL. I love college football because of the link to the university. I love that students dress up and that alums come back to town. I love to walk my old campus and see the hand prints of old captains in the concrete. I love to see old college buddies and eat good food. I love the pageantry of the bowls. I love college football. I will watch college football if they get rid of scholarships and return to the days of guys from the student body who come out just because they love the game.It will be painful but eventually the entire bowl system needs to be removed. Playoff games should be seeded and played at higher seeds home field. Championship games could be played at rotating southern and domed sites like the SB.
Those of you who love NFL football need to just cheer for NFL teams and quit watching college football. This is the only hope I have that college football will remain the same. Unfortunately, it seems that sports writers, northerners, and NFL lovers all have it in their minds that they need to change the college game. It is like when northerners move down South because they like the weather, the food, the slower paced life, and the first thing they start doing is trying to change things to the way they did things up North. It doesn't make any sense at all.
Again, if you love college football, leave it alone. If you don't, watch the NFL. That way everyone can be happy.
To stay on topic, I think eighty-five scholarships is plenty.
Of course, I should add that this is only my opinion. Roll Tide!
