Thanks for doing this. Interesting to see how teams improve or falter from year to year. In my area we have very good small town football. Eight different teams have played for state championships since 2003 in various classifications (1A-3A).

Greenville is out of the 3-way tie for 5A Region 3 (3rd and 4th spots up for grabs) after self reporting an ineligible player in 3 wins.

Offense. That is about all you need to know about Pinson Valley. One of the best 6-4 teams you'll ever see. I think Hartselle beats them but wouldn't be surprised either way in this game...

I know the ASHAA makes most of their money through the playoffs, but letting half the teams in the state make the playoffs is a bit much. They should only let the top three from each region get in and give the region champs a first round bye.

So according to that we would only have 8 less teams per class. The top four from every region currently makes it. 8 teams really don't make a big difference.

Well, it would reward the region champ with a bye week, although a week off isn't always a good thing. I just think letting too many teams in the playoffs waters down the prestige of making the playoffs. Yes, it would just eliminate eight teams per class, but its also eliminating one per region, which would force you to (most years) at least have a winning record in your region to make the post season.

Most regions now force you to win 3-4 region games. I think the worst teams were still 3-4 in region play. I agree that area play was absolutely terrible but since the move to regions the playoffs have been excellent.
