Re: Yahoo: NCAA to formally charge Ole Miss with rules violations (UPDATE: NOA Releas

I think it's safe to say that the Lord really doesn't care very much about football.
I'm a pastor and I couldn't agree with you more. I've never liked coaches and players bringing God into the winning and losing of games. I think He can use a good christian coach or player to have a positive impact on people around them, but the way Freeze does it is too much for me.

He ensured Dabo and Clemson won a national title. Not sure what happened last year when they lost. Dabo must not have met his baptism quota and the Lord punished him by letting Bama win it.

Amen from this retired pastor as well...using God like that only cheapens God in the eyes of many.

This photo was taken in the Clemson locker room before the NC game.

One could believe - in a Calvinist sort of way - that God has a hand in all human activity and still believe that Hugh Freeze (like Dabo) is a bozo.

And that's all I got to say about that.

You're right, He cares nothing about the game of football, but He is interested in the welfare of each individual who participates, both saved and lost.

Ding-Ding-Ding...with some qualifications...but that would take it to NS might fast.

I will say that's what is so pernicious about Freeze (and Dabo, Gus, etc.) - he's taking a true part of the Christian faith and twisting into a half-truth that is really damaging to the faith.

One of my favorite comments was a question a Pastor was asked about the "seed of faith" money given the TV evangelist to get that new car or some other possession. He said "God answers prayer and fills needs but God is NOT a vending machine where you poke your money in and punch a new car button. God loves a cheerful giver but giving "to get" is not what God had in mind"

Mr. Freeze talks a good game but he appears to be using God to get.

I'm neither a minister nor a bible thumper but NO. It doesn't. Not for me. It's indication that the persons faith is either insincere, misdirected or fabricated for show. And it's the fabrication aspect that bothers me most.

Re: Yahoo: NCAA to formally charge Ole Miss with rules violations (UPDATE: NOA Releas

From the "they just can't hep themselves" department.

Let's use this to set the story up---

This is the back story and the character we are dealing with--------from 2010

http://www.greenevillesun.com/sport...cle_082f5776-b963-5e3c-82e3-10251ddc85ba.html

Now to today's news--------

http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/ol...star-2017-running-back-really-likes-ole-miss/

Why is this such a big deal? First, the kid has been committed to Clemson for the better part of a year. March of 2016 to be exact--------

http://usatodayhss.com/2016/top-5-running-back-cordarrian-richardson-commits-to-clemson

Clemson must have had a really bad year to make him think of casting his lot with a 5-7 team about to go on probation, huh? And then we come across this ------

http://www.wmcactionnews5.com/story...-team-forfeits-season-due-to-grade-violations

Quote - "The discrepancies were discovered by Principal Ronnie Mackin and his staff. They were conducting an audit to ensure all students had proper course selection for graduation when the academic discrepancies were found. The discrepancies were reported to District officials and an internal investigation is now underway."

So, we are looking at seniors---reasonable? The next day we get this---------------

http://www.localmemphis.com/news/lo...uspended-amid-grading-investigation/590332832

And four days later we get this--------------

http://www.commercialappeal.com/sto...ball-allowed-resume-grading-scandal/91501402/

The investigation continues and we get this in early November------------

http://www.fox13memphis.com/top-sto...oach-suspended-over-grading-scandal/464967693

http://www.jacksonsun.com/story/spo...rezevant-situation-raises-red-flags/91645466/

Short version - Shelby County Schools was doing the investigation at the request of the Tresevant principal and found problems. TSSAA was not investigating. After information is sent to TSSAA, all students met their eligibility requirements. Simple terms----old grades were good for playing in high school---just not for graduation, and it was not an eligibility issue for the TSSAA. Might there be smoke like around another Memphis prospect from 2012, Jovon Robinson? 125 Division 1 coaches knew Jovon Robinson wasn't going to be eligible and all of a sudden Trooper Taylor and Curtis Looper have him practicing at Auburn.

Now Richardson wants to go to Ole Miss immediately after an official visit----isn't that special?

Thanks OBMS.

Memphis continues to be a cesspool.

Reminds me somewhat of the Eric Bledsoe (Kentucky Basketball recruit) situation in Birmingham. Most schools backed off thinking he couldn't possibly qualify. Then, by miracles of miracles, he does and signs with Kentucky. When the investigation was launched, the grade books from Hayes High (where he had attended previously) had mysteriously "disappeared" so they couldn't compare for grade changes.

And just reading the quotes in the articles from the parents, coaches, teachers, and students, one can tell that education is a priority there.

Trezevant is where Albert Means played high school ball. Been a cesspool for 40 years.

We need to stay clear of that entire city and it's prospects.

Ugh Barrett Jones is from Memphis. You're painting with a broad brush.
He's one of the few good prospects from the city.
