When Georgia’s Pro Day was just about completed Wednesday, Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff was holding court with some media members.
One asked him a question that comes up often with Georgia fans.
Why do the Falcons not select more players from UGA in the NFL Draft?
He had already fielded a similar version of the query a bit earlier.
“He called me out on that,” Dimitroff said mentioning another reporter. “We love coming here. We have a great relationship with the University of Georgia. It just seems like at certain times it just hasn’t fallen in our lap. We’ll always be here and we’ll always make sure that we focus. Again, we have great interactions and relationships with them. Hopefully one day soon we can pull off one that’s going to be a difference maker for us.”
Dimitroff was joined by head coach Dan Quinn and a total of 11 from the Falcons organization including those from the front office and coaches.
Georgia is one of the top producers of NFL talent, but the Falcons haven’t selected a Georgia player since taking linebacker Akeem Dent in 2011 in the third round. The only other Georgia player drafted by Atlanta since Dimitroff was hired in 2008 was running back Thomas Brown in his first draft.
