I didn't read your op-ed but I have friends in the Cherokee tribe that are thrilled with this announcement. Jackson is not loved in the Native American communityThe author of the op-ed I posted yesterday agrees with Trump.

Just like Southerners, they lost so should get over it.I didn't read your op-ed but I have friends in the Cherokee tribe that are thrilled with this announcement. Jackson is not loved in the Native American community
what did they lose? the trail of tears was a forced re-location. so yeah, they should just get over that.Just like Southerners, they lost so should get over it.
As a note, the author of the op-ed is black.
Yes, they should get over it. Living in the past hasn't gotten them anywhere. Casinos on the other hand...the trail of tears was a forced re-location. so yeah, they should just get over that.
so what if the author of the op-ed is black.
he is free to to see it that way.Yes, they should get over it. Living in the past hasn't gotten them anywhere. Casinos on the other hand...
The black author sees the $20 bill change as being merely symbolic and impacting nothing, which Indians might consider as well.
You know the Fed loved kicking Andrew Jackson off the front of the $20.
I hate that stupid shield on the back of the penny. What was wrong with the Lincoln Memorial? One wonders how much money that we don't have to spend that this will actually cost. Having to retool equipment to actually print it. And for what it's worth, I've said the same thing with all the changes to the coin currency that has had modifications in the last several years, pennies, nickels, dollar coins and especially quarters.
I'm sure there are plenty of historical people who one might make the case are deserving of such an honor. But we only have so many forms of currency. So there was no need to make the point of removing Jackson because of this reason or that. Maybe Lin-Manuel Miranda will write a hit musical about him between now and 2020....and this is why I oppose the move. Honoring Harriet Tubman is fine but removing or destroying the images of those who helped make our country great seems to be the new in thing.
Will we now call them Tubmans rather than Jacksons? How about Tubbies? Ha!
