Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart will retire next June 30, the school announced Thursday.

Though Hart appears to have made a good hire in fourth-year football coach Butch Jones, his tenure at Tennessee has been a rocky one in many ways. He hired men's basketball coach Donnie Tyndall in 2014, only to be forced to fire him a year later when it was revealed Tyndall had committed widespread NCAA violations at Southern Miss.
And the entire Tennessee athletic department has been under fire of late after a series of sexual assault allegations against athletes, many of them football players. The school last month settled a Title IX lawsuit brought by a number of female former students for $2.48 million.
I hate to see him go. He was the best AD we could have hoped for up there.
