Lorenzo Carter is making up for lost time when it comes to sacks.
The junior outside linebacker had two more sacks on Saturday, giving him four on the season, all in the last three games.
Carter, who was a five-star recruit out of Norcross, went all of last season and the first four games of this season without a sack after having 4½ in 2014.
“It’s just coming, it comes with time,” said Carter, who had three tackles. “We keep dialing up our pressures, playing our defense the way we need to, the sacks will come. We’re not pressed, me or Bell (Davin Bellamy) or any other defensive lineman. We’re not pressed to make sacks, we’re pressed to stop the run and be a physical defense.”
Georgia sacked Kyle Shurmur three times on a day he went 7 of 18 for 109 yards.
“I was pleased that Zo had a couple of good plays, a couple of good rushes, but some other guys set that up for Zo, too, by the way they rushed,” coach Kirby Smart said.
Bellamy had eight tackles and a half a sack and freshman defensive end David Marshall also had a half sack.
Sophomore defensive end Jonathan Ledbettter had four tackles, including a half a tackle for loss in his first action of the season after serving a six-game suspension for two alcohol-related arrests.

“We had some success rushing the quarterback, rushing four guys, which we thought we could do with the addition of Ledbetter and with Zo coming some in there,” Smart said. “Theyre not a great pass protecting team. Our ability to get there and force those mistakes are big and critical to getting a guy in the pocket and try to come after him.”
