Lets remember, Florida during the first half of 2015 was one of the surprisingly good teams in the country. Grier was being the exact kind of QB he needs in his offense. They weren't a GREAT offense but they were effective on the ground and Grier was very good at the bootleg game. Then he got exposed as a PED user, they fall apart on offense and by the time we get them in the SECCG they are simply impotent on offense and try the "do no harm" approach to playcalling. Del Rio looked good for them at the start of the season. He dings up his shoulder and never looked the same...the dropoff to Appleby was clearly severe.

Much like Auburn, they can't keep their competent albeit not a star QB healthy or eligible to participate and by the end of the year the production is horrifyingly bad. Similarities abound: if these two schools don't get a QB who can stay healthy and be efficient then each of their coaches will be out of a job this time next year. Unlike Malzahn, I do think McElwain has the chops to be a consistent coach in this league. Sure the East has been down, but Florida has found a way as a full team to string together the wins to get it done within their division.
