A key question is whether or not the lease agreement is with Trump personally or with a corporation, which is legally distinct from the shareholder(s). Nevertheless, all Trump has to do is assign to another party any profits he could receive as a result of the lease to avoid any conflict with the lease.
No, not always. "Piercing the corporate veil" is an old and honored principle. I won't go into the requirements to do so. I will observe that Trump easily meets the requirements. IOW, he can't simply assign it off to a shell entity...

“The stars have all aligned,” Eric Trump, who as executive vice president of the Trump Organization oversees all its golf properties, said on Thursday morning, while sipping an iced tea at the restaurant inside the Trump International Hotel before appearing at a promotional event for the Memorial Day tournament. “I think our brand is the hottest it has ever been.”
just so that we can all be reminded

In 2000 Donald Trump told Fortune magazine, “It's very possible that I could be the first presidential candidate to run and make money on it.”

Trump's draft budget proposes billion dollar cut to Coast Guard

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump's budget proposal includes a $1.3 billion cut to the US Coast Guard, congressional sources told CNN Tuesday.

The cuts would be applied to an operating budget of about $9 billion, which hawks on the Hill were quick to slam as too deep a reduction to the military branch's funding.

Two sources familiar with the administration's FY2018 budget request told CNN the plan is to boost the Department of Homeland Security's total budget by 6%, up to $43.8 billion. That increase would primarily go to border security and would be paid for with the Coast Guard cuts and reductions to other agencies.

...

The Coast Guard's annual seizures at sea amount to more than three times the quantity of cocaine seized at US borders and within the country combined, the source added.

"As Trump builds the wall on the Southern Border, it's going to push more migrants and smugglers to the water -- and the only entity there to stop all of it is the Coast Guard," Kasper told CNN.

"To cut one to pay for the other makes no sense," retired Coast Guard Cdr. Stephen Flynn told CNN.

A congressional aide familiar with the OMB proposal told CNN that it sought a $43 million cut to the "Maritime Safety and Security Teams" which among other duties, conduct the boarding of vessels during law enforcement actions such as drug interdictions.

Donald Trump famously promised during the 2016 presidential campaign that he would by too busy to ever take a vacation, but now the president just spent his fifth weekend golfing and soaking up the sun at this exclusive Mar-A-Lago resort in Florida — trips that cost taxpayers $3.5 million each.

The president has used his exclusive resort as something of a working retreat, taking time to dine at his restaurant and meet with the resort’s members while also hosting state visitors and tweeting accusations against President Barack Obama. But while he may be getting some work done while in Florida, Trump is also racking up criticism for the expensive trips after his constant attacks on Obama for his travel costs.

This weekend was the fifth time that President Donald Trump flew down to Mar-A-Lago since his inauguration in January. The Guardian noted that these visits are quite expensive to taxpayers, with airfare and security costs plus the costs of keeping communications and medical staff on hand amounting to $3.5 million.

it is being taken to an whole different level. this isn't just making some bank off of book deals.
to be fair, Obama got a heck of a book deal

http://www.vanityfair.com/style/2017/03/barack-michelle-obama-land-book-deal

The announcement followed what The Financial Times reported was a record-breaking auction between several publishing houses, with Penguin Random House agreeing to buy the books for more than $65 million. The New York Times notes that the publishing house has not confirmed which of its imprints will publish the books. Their imprint Crown published former-President Obama’s previous books and the First Lady’s book American Grown, about the White House garden.
but yeah, Trumps stuff is next level

AP is now reporting that the Trump team was warned that Flynn would need to register as a foreign agent prior to Trump taking office, despite assurances by Trump, Pence, and Spicer that the revelation of his foreign ties and contact came as a huge surprise to everyone.

Lawyers for Michael Flynn told Donald Trump’s transition team that Flynn might need to register with the justice department as a “foreign agent”, according to a White House official and a person with direct knowledge of the discussions.

A White House official said Flynn’s personal lawyer had contacted Trump transition attorneys before the inauguration about the possible filing as Flynn was being considered for appointment as Trump’s national security adviser.

I default to "they're lying" on everything they say at this point, it's just easier

Yeah, I was going to say. Technically, all of the recent ones have made money as a result of being president.

But obviously it's going to be greater with Trump, because he's a businessman.
It will be interesting to see who actually has had the largest increase in wealth at the end of Trump's time in office. Trump? Obama? Clinton? Etc.

That is ridiculous. If you are going from now till the end of his time in office, there will only be one person who is employed by the federal government while increasing their wealth (assuming Obama or Clinton don't get appointed/elected somewhere else). There would also only be one person who could be seen as having a conflict of interest from profiting during their term. Clinton and Obama are in the free market, doing what people in the free market do.
