He proved himself to be a completely unethical fool yesterday as did the Republicans on the committee. I must say however, that if the Dems do not have enough power to hold him accountable for such a display before Congress, they appear to me to be completely powerless and only weaken themselves further by allowing such clown shows to proceed in front of the American people
This. Until the Democrats start asserting their constitutional powers, there's really no reason for anyone to cooperate with them.

problem is, with the continued intransigence of the gop in support of dear leader, their constitutional powers really don't have any actual power behind them. the law doesn't apply to trump or the republicans, moscow mitch's senate and the federalist society packed judiciary will make sure of that.

I'm going to read between the lines and say that Trump made a promise to Vladimir Putin during a phone call that was so unsettling that someone in the intelligence community filed a formal whistleblower complaint. The alleged timeline of this phone call (July/August-ish) overlaps with the unexpected resignation of Dan Coates, and the formal complaint was filed less than two weeks after his departure. One wonders if he was notified of this concern and mentioned something to Trump prior to his dismissal.

Trump’s communications with foreign leader are part of whistleblower complaint that spurred standoff between spy chief and Congress, former officials say

The whistleblower complaint that has triggered a tense showdown between the U.S. intelligence community and Congress involves President Trump’s communications with a foreign leader, according to two former U.S. officials familiar with the matter.

Trump’s interaction with the foreign leader included a “promise” that was regarded as so troubling that it prompted an official in the U.S. intelligence community to file a formal whistleblower complaint with the inspector general for the intelligence community, said the officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

this should surprise absolutely no one. with that being said, i imagine this will have no impact whatsoever on the base

Tillerson: Netanyahu would provide Trump with ‘misinformation’
There is little doubt that Netanyahu and MBS are anxious for war with Iran and ready to fight to the last drop of American blood. There is no end to what the Israeli right wing or the Saudis might do to see the US destroy Iranian infrastructure as we foolishly did to Iraq. Russia and China would as well be gleeful to see the US exhaust its wealth and power in the sands of Iran over the next several decades. We have just the idiot in charge to lead us into that!

Good Lord! Now, he's claiming it's "fake news" that he ever said that he'd meet with the Iranians without preconditions (which I thought stupid when he said it). It gets ever more bizarre and we're supposed to pretend all is normal...
He is crazy for that. Just fly a plane over there with pallets of cash. That’s the way to do it.

Not that any of the Trumpers actually care about the truth or even context.

The deal did lift some sanctions, which lifted a freeze on Iran’s assets that were held largely in foreign, not U.S., banks. And, to be clear, the money that was unfrozen belonged to Iran. It had only been made inaccessible by sanctions aimed at crippling the country’s nuclear program.

c'mon now, they were all equally livid when pallets of cash went missing in iraq

How the US sent $12bn in cash to Iraq. And watched it vanish
Special flights brought in tonnes of banknotes which disappeared into the war zone

The US flew nearly $12bn in shrink-wrapped $100 bills into Iraq, then distributed the cash with no proper control over who was receiving it and how it was being spent.
The staggering scale of the biggest transfer of cash in the history of the Federal Reserve has been graphically laid bare by a US congressional committee.

In the year after the invasion of Iraq in 2003 nearly 281 million notes, weighing 363 tonnes, were sent from New York to Baghdad for disbursement to Iraqi ministries and US contractors. Using C-130 planes, the deliveries took place once or twice a month with the biggest of $2,401,600,000 on June 22 2004, six days before the handover.

So Trump tries to pressure the Ukraine President into investigation of Hunter Biden to use against Joe Biden. Another day, another Presidential crime. Nothing to see here, move along.

Trump supposedly made the phone calls to Ukraine's President in late July. Dan Coates and his #2, Sue Gordon, both resigned in mid-August. Coincidence? Then Guiliani goes on CNN and lies about his contacts with the Ukraine government on trying to get dirt on Hunter Biden to be used against Joe Biden. Then the acting DNI, Joseph McGuire, went to the DOJ with the whistleblower's case rather than Congress. It is now in the hands of AG Barr and I think we all know how that will play out. Possible paywall.

The funny thing is that around the webisphere I am seeing many complaining that the Democrats aren’t immediately launching impeachment proceedings, and therefore are the real anti American and lazy party.
