It is the right call to keep the game in control...that SECCG crew could take a page from these guys. Sometimes the close call early stops the vicious crap late.

It absolutely does. I learned that as a Rec ref. Call the penalty tight early and it stops the nonsense for the rest of the game. Players always test to see just how far they can push it, every game.

Anyone who has played just tad even in a rec league knows that is how football goes...really any sport with official judgments. I don't fault those calls because it reigns in the viciousness...you know you shouldn't even think about trying to light up a guy in that situation the rest of the game.
