This could be something affecting some of you, whether related to this site's issues or not. Never leave your router's default password in place.

As you read these words, malicious ads on legitimate websites are targeting visitors with malware. But that malware doesn't infect their computers, researchers said. Instead, it causes unsecured routers to connect to fraudulent domains.
As Ars reported last week, a similar malvertising campaign—images with hidden code that double-check IP addresses—also reached more than 1 million people a day. Proofpoint said the two campaigns aren't related.DNS servers translate domain names such as arstechnica.com into IP addresses such as 50.31.151.33, which computers need to find and access the site. By changing router settings to use an attacker-controlled server, DNSChanger can cause most, if not all, connected computers to connect to impostor sites that look just like the real ones. So far, the malicious DNS server used by DNSChanger appears to be falsifying IP addresses to divert traffic from large ad agencies in favor of ad networks known as Fogzy and TrafficBroker. But the server could be updated at any time to falsify lookups for Gmail.com, bankofamerica.com, or any other site. In such a scenario, fortunately, HTTPS protections would flag the impostor.
The best defense against these attacks is to ensure routers are running the latest available firmware and are protected with a long password that's generated randomly or through a technique known as diceware. Disabling remote administration, changing its default local IP address can also be helpful, and hardcoding a trusted DNS server into the OS network settings can also be helpful.

The space bar issue seems to be related to a Chrome browser update and vbulletin 4 using an older version of the so-called "CKeditor."

Others may experience issues as well, but seems more closely related to a Chrome update about a month ago. I have added the following message for those that still experience issues (chrome or not). We auto-detect your browser and if using chrome display the following above the reply box.

"NOTICE: We have detected you are using Chrome web browser. If the space bar does not work when entering text below press the Enter key (maybe once or twice) first and the space bar should work again. You may also change to the STANDARD editor in your TideFans profile settings."

If you press ENTER once or twice before you start typing, it usually allows the space bar to work. Also, you can always turn off the WYSIWIG text editor in your TideFans profile settings. This eliminates much of the functionality of the text editor on the site for you but if you're really having lots of problems, might solve those problems. Not a great workaround, but it is a workaround. Thanks for all who have provided feedback! I want to form a Beta-test group of users who volunteer to test out stuff like this for us. We would put you in a group and, in some cases, ask you to provide feedback before we roll out functionality or upgrades. In other cases, we would just ask you to give us more specific feedback on your site performance and other site experiences. Be on the lookout for that info later!

THANKS FOR HAVING PATIENCE as we work through the root causes.

For the past several weeks I could not type a reply to any threads on the Tide Fans site. When I clicked on "reply to thread" the response box would open, but there was no cursor at all. You guys did something to fix the problem. Everything is back to normal now. Thanks.
