Was able to get this completed this morning.

For those not familiar, I average a team's stats from the games not against Clemson or Alabama and compare the stats from the one game against Clemson or Alabama to get an idea of how they performed.

Thanks for the effort....I like the approach and logic behind it. Sure seems like a toss-up when analyzing the data, but that's not surprising.

An interesting stat, but not scientific. Bama has done very well against teams wearing orange or purple. Maybe its like red to a bull. Those colors get Bama fired up.

Unless I'm reading that incorrectly 3 of the 4 composite differences favour Bama and the 1 which doesn't is plays per game.

Would that not point to a Bama victory by a relatively small margin say 6-10pts?

So overall our offenses are comparable and our defense is better than theirs but not by as large a degree as the consensus out there seems to be saying. Looks like a close game and we win unless we turn the ball over more than expected. Sounds about right.

By my interpretation of these stats, Bama wins 29-22.

I added the number of points Bama usually gives up (11.43) to the number Clemson scores above their opponents average (difference = 16.22) to get 27.65 points for Clemson.

Clemson D gives up 17.07 added to Bama's O scoring 15.98 more than opponents are used to giving up. Sum = 33.05. Rounding figures Bama wins 33.05 - 27.65.

Also, I took what Bama usually scores (39.36) and subtract what Clemson holds opponent offenses under their usual -13.95. Sum = 25.41. Same for Clemson 39.5 - 22.78 = 16.72. Bama wins 25.41 - 16.72.

Averaging the two scores and rounding the figures I have Bama winning 29-22.

RTR91 if I have grossly mismanaged your statistics, please let me know. I'm not a statistician.
