Close to 25% of the additional growth is caused by feeding them antibiotics routinely, although the article seems to mention it as an afterthought. I oppose it personally because of effect of breeding antibiotic-resistant bacteria. For that reason, I buy Publix antibiotic-free chickens exclusively. It's a practice which has been banned by the EU for ten years and by some individual countries as long as twenty years...
