We've lost an American hero.....and it's been 44 years since we've been on the moon....wow....

Today also marks the day (14 years ago) that the Space Shuttle Columbia laughed for the final time - little did we know when it took off the the foam damage to the wing was severe enough to kill all aboard on re-entry 16 days later...

His mother was a Czech and his father Slovakian.
Cernan was one of only three humans who traveled to the moon on two occasions.
The other two being Jim Lovell and John Young.
The life of a man like this should certainly be celebrated.

I just ordered his book "The Last Man on the Moon". Can't wait to read it as I know it will be inspirational.
