    I think most people are simply pleased that if something happens when protesters are illegally blocking the road, the driver won't be liable. I know I am.

    Probably be a good deterrent for standing in the street with a sign in your hand. People can see you on the sidewalk, that is protesting. Standing in the street is asking for trouble.
